2 p.m.: Trump declares Antifa a terrorist group as city officials blame outsiders for violence
As protests over the death of George Floyd turned violent this weekend in Chicago and other U.S. cities, government officials have begun to blame organized groups they say are intentionally triggering the violence to create division in America.
In Chicago, officials had yet to cite specific groups for helping turn what had started as peaceful protests into full-blown riots on Saturday night. But during a Sunday news conference Mayor Lori Lightfoot said of the violence, “absolutely, it was organized. There’s no question whatsoever about that.”
I think Chicago has the wrong guy on the job.

Yesterday afternoon while ANTIFA and BLM was moving into position, Superintendent Brown found the time to place nice nice with some activist reporter in Minneapolis. To say he was distracted is putting it mildly.

- Stiff sentencing
- Shut down the "L" until this has passed.
Mayor Lightfoot is urged to treat this situation most seriously. Don't invite them to lawfully assemble and voice their outrage. Stop MF ing the police, they are doing the best they can. The Rush to Convict ........... ... ........
POSTED ON MAY 29, 2020 BY JOHN HINDERAKER IN CRIME, POLICING
MEDICAL EXAMINER: GEORGE FLOYD WASN’T ASPHYXIATED
From the first hours after George Floyd died on Lake Street in Minneapolis, the rush to convict the officers who took him into custody seemed unstoppable. The frenzy was fueled by a video of one of the officers kneeling on Floyd, seemingly on his throat, while the officers waited for an ambulance to arrive. Every politician in Minnesota (and elsewhere) denounced the video as “appalling,” “disgusting,” and so on, and called for the policemen’s heads. Only a few brave souls suggested that we should wait to learn the cause of Floyd’s death before stringing anyone up. Or burning anything down.
Today we got the first information from Hennepin County’s Medical Examiner, in an attachment to the criminal complaint against officer Derek Chauvin:
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner (ME) conducted Mr. Floyd’s autopsy on May 26, 2020. The full report of the ME is pending but the ME has made the following preliminary findings. The autopsy

“If you’d told me six months ago that the governor of Illinois would declare churches ‘nonessential’ and shut them down, while liquor stores are ‘essential’ and open, I’d have asked what blend of weed you were smoking,” Peter Breen of the Thomas More Society told me.
What we’ve been smoking? Fear. It’s all been tightly rolled in the scraps of the First Amendment of the Constitution of the United States. We’ve been inhaling deeply for months.
And the leaders of the lockdown party — Gov. J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot — are on the verge of losing control. Rookie politicians make rookie mistakes.
Pritzker’s initial stay-at-home-order, in March, did not consider worship services as essential. But after the Thomas More Society filed a lawsuit on behalf of a church in Lena, Illinois, the governor scrambled to modify his order. Pritzker allowed worship services but imposed social distancing guidelines and limited the free exercise of religion to only 10 or fewer people at a time.
The people are pushing back. The pressure builds like a rain-swollen river pushing on a levee.

“I had the discretion to give them the money back,” former Illinois Senate President John Cullerton says. “At the time the funds were returned, Thomas Cullerton had pleaded not guilty. . . . [Martin] Sandoval had not been charged.” Rich Hein / Sun-Times
In his final days as Illinois Senate president, John Cullerton transferred $92,000 from a political account he controlled to the campaign funds of two Senate colleagues targeted by federal prosecutors: his distant cousin Thomas Cullerton and Martin Sandoval.
Thomas Cullerton — who got $32,000 in January — had pleaded “not guilty” to federal charges accusing him of taking $274,000 in salary and benefits for a no-show Teamsters job.
Sandoval — who got $60,000 — had just resigned his Senate seat and days later pleaded guilty to taking $250,000 in bribes and filing a false income-tax return.
Within days after they got the money, records show, both men made sizable payments to their defense

Another Pritzker Investment
Pardon me but don't you think the governor should be investing in Illinois like the rest of us have? I mean, he is the governor of a very depressed state. I would think that he would do everything in his power to fix Illinois and restore confidence. This project tends to have the opposite effect.
CHICAGO - A big construction project at JB Pritzker’s Wisconsin horse farm has some questioning whether the governor is honoring the spirit of his own stay-at-home order.
FOX 32 News watched Thursday as construction workers from Illinois crossed the border to work on the governor’s farm. Pritzker, though, says there is no double standard

Groot Steps on Pritzker
- Doug Dunlay was “absolutely thrilled” when Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced Wednesday that restaurants could start serving customers on their patios as soon as May 29, the day his current stay-at-home order expires.
Dunlay, the owner of Smoke Daddy in Wicker Park, said he and his team immediately sprang into action and started mapping out the restaurant’s patio to adhere to the state’s social distancing guidelines. After struggling for months after the COVID-19
"Maybe June, we'll see"
CHICAGO - Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot threw cold water on hopes that the city’s restaurants might resume outdoor service later this month, a day after the governor said such service would be allowed under certain conditions as of May 29.
Lightfoot said the coronavirus is still too much of a threat to the city and that

Bears and Matt Nagy have a lot on the line in 2020
With four starters returning from a disappointing offensive line in 2019 — and possibly all five — Nagy is hoping new line coach Juan Castillo will make a difference.

Bears right tackle Bobby Massie missed six full games and parts of two others because of illness (vertigo) and injury (sprained ankle) in 2019. Massie, who turns 31 on Aug. 1, will be playing his ninth season in the NFL in 2020, his fifth with the Bears. Jeff Haynes/AP
Germain Ifedi is unlikely to single-handedly invigorate the Bears’ offensive line in 2020. It remains to be seen if he can even beat out Rashaad Coward, and perhaps Alex Bars, for the starting job at right

Alderman moves to close legal loophole in Chicago’s puppy mill ordinance
The loophole has allowed pet shops to thumb their noses at the 2014 puppy mill ordinance by forming what Ald. Brian Hopkins called “phony rescue organizations.”

A loophole allowed pet shops to ignore a city ordinance banning purchases from puppy mills by forming their own rescue groups. These chihuahuas were rescued from a suspected puppy mill in Peotone. Sun-Times file
