Bears lease at Soldier Field runs through 2033. However, the team can break the agreement early by paying an early-termination fee, which is currently tabbed at $90 million. After 2033, who cares?

Art Institute of Chicago Director James Rondeau has temporarily stepped down amid an investigation into his behavior on a flight April 18 from Chicago to Germany.

The Art Institute of Chicago is investigating its director, James Rondeau, after he reportedly stripped off his clothes after drinking alcohol and taking prescription medication on a flight in April from Chicago to Germany.

According to CBS News, which first reported the incident, police were called April 18 for a report that Rondeau had stripped his clothes on a United Airlines flight after it landed in Munich. CBS reported Rondeau drank alcohol and took prescription medication before the incident.

When reached by phone Saturday, a spokesperson for the museum issued a statement: “The Art Institute takes this very seriously and has opened an independent investigation into the incident to gather all available information.”

In addition, the spokesperson confirmed that Rondeau “will voluntarily be taking some time away from the office while the investigation is completed.”

Rondeau was appointed president and director of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2016. At the time, the chairperson of the museum’s board of trustees, Robert Levy, lauded Rondeau as “an internationally respected curator and scholar.”

Rondeau had led two of the Art Institute’s curatorial departments before taking the president and director role. He has received more than $1 million in salary, recent tax records show.

He joined the museum in 1998 as an associate curator of contemporary art. Over the years, he also worked as the museum’s curator and chair of photography and oversaw the merger of the Art Institute’s Departments of Contemporary and Modern Art.

Robert De Niro’s 29-year-old son Airyn (formerly Aaron) has come out as transgender after beginning hormone treatment in 2024.

Born via surrogate with the acclaimed actor’s ex-girlfriend Toukie Smith, Airyn told Themmagazine that hormone treatment into becoming a woman began in 2024.

“I think a big part of [my transition] is also the influence Black women have had on me,” said Airyn. “I think stepping into this new identity, while also being more proud of my Blackness, makes me feel closer to them in some way.”

Airyn said that both Robert De Niro and Toukie Smith have been supportive since the transition began.

“Obviously, no parent is perfect, but I am grateful that both my parents agreed to keep me out of the limelight,” said Airyn. “They wanted it very private; they have told me they wanted me to have as much of a normal childhood as possible.”

“I wasn’t brought up having a side part in one of dad’s movies or going to business meetings or attending premieres. My dad was very big on us finding our own sort of path. I would want [success] to happen on my own merit,” Airyn added.

The funeral program for the visitation for Marine veteran Roy Giddens, which took place Friday at Johnson Funeral Home on the West Side.

On New Year’s Eve, Roy Fred Giddens sat with his brother and watched the Chicago Bears game from his room at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center.

Giddens had been admitted to the hospital days earlier for chest pains and was told by a doctor the prognosis did not look good. The 75-year-old Vietnam veteran, who had long struggled with post-traumatic stress disorder and mental illness, was having a hard time coping with the news.
