Beetlejuice insults her police again
Catanzara blasts Beetlejuice over comments about officers’ ‘incredible amount’ of time off
The mayor contends the amount of “respite baked into” the police contract makes Catanzara’s “narrative” about cops being worked “like mules” false.

She should get on the emergency PA system and tell these children either they go home now or else she is going to have them arrested (just like she threatened the people walking in the park during covid).
What about imposing a 9 pm curfew and enforcing it with some arrest?
Where are the aldermen when you need them? They should grab some reporter and start pontificating. Why be silent? This is your city being destroyed. How much longer can this go on? How long can Chicago survive with this type of incompetent leadership?

The Chicago Park District has “every intention” of opening at least some of its shuttered pools on July 5, but how many will actually be open depends on how many lifeguards it can hire and train in the coming days.

Experts predict about 20,000 more people will come to Illinois for access to abortion care as a result of Friday’s ruling overturning Roe v. Wade.
By Sophie Sherry
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot speaks during a press conference in response to the Supreme Court rolling back Roe v. Wade at Planned Parenthood of Illinois’ headquarters in the Loop, Friday afternoon, June 24, 2022.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot had a simple message for those worried about their access to abortions after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on Friday.
“Come to Chicago,” Lightfoot said during a news conference with Planned Parenthood and other groups that help provide abortions.
“We will protect you, we will make sure that your rights are respected,” she continued, hours after the expected ruling was finally handed down. “We will make sure that you get access to the health care you deserve.”
The court ruling is likely to result in abortion bans in half of the states, including those that neighbor Illinois. Illinois and Minnesota may be the only upper Midwestern states to see no change in abortion access.
“We’re here, not only to voice our opposition and our outrage to the Supreme Court’s decision, but to reassure our brothers and sisters all across the country that Chicago and Illinois will remain a safe haven for all who value justice,” Lightfoot said.

The world used to revere brave men who put themselves on the line for others. Songs were sung and legends were made from men who performed courageous acts. Britain must be ready to fight Russia in World War 3, new Army chief warns
The country's top general is preparing for the possibility of hostilities even though the number of soldiers at his disposal is at the lowest for 300 years due to cutbacks

Britain's new Army commander has told the nation's soldiers they must be ready to fight in a potential World War Three.
The country's top general, Sir Patrick Sanders, has promised to put together a military force that can defeat Russia following their invasion of Ukraine.
Gen Sanders only assumed his new role on Monday but, in a message to his troops that conjured up a chilling reminder of World War Two, he wrote: "We are the generation that must prepare the Army to fight in Europe once again. There is now a burning imperative to forge an Army capable of fighting alongside our allies and defeating Russia in battle."

As Chief of the General Staff, though, Gen Sanders is now in charge of the smallest British army since the early 18th century with Government cuts having reduced its size to 73,000 soldiers.
Even though Prime Minister Boris Johnson pledged "not to cut our armed forces in any form" back in 2019, the army is also losing 800 armoured vehicles and 80 tanks.
But Gen Sanders - the former Rifles commander - understands the gravity and purpose of his new position and the situation in Ukraine, adding: "I am the first Chief of the General Staff since 1941 to take command of the Army in the shadow of a land war in Europe involving a continental power. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine underlines our core purpose - to protect the UK by being ready to fight and win wars on land."

The Lithuanian chargé d'affaires in Moscow was told that unless cargo transit was resumed in the near future, Russia reserves the right to act to protect its national interests.
The Russian foreign ministry said: 'We consider provocative measures of the Lithuanian side which violate Lithuania's international legal obligations, primarily the 2002 Joint Statement of the Russian Federation and the European Union on transit between the Kaliningrad region and the rest of the Russian Federation, to be openly hostile.'
Loyalist senator Andrey Klimov warned it was 'direct aggression against Russia, literally forcing us to immediately resort to proper self-defence'.
