  2. NAME WITHHELD FOR OBVIOUS REASONS11/21/2010

I was a 19th ward dem preceinct caption for 8 years under Tom Hynes. I quit soon after Matt O'Shea came into power and failed to return several of my phone calls.

We can talk about all these failed businesses Richies, the Ice Cream place, the car repair place, the body shop, on and on. Why is it that Richies has closed yet a restruant down the street is doing ok? Why is the car repair place across the street from the closed car repair place prospering? Why are other ice cream shops and body shops doing well? The answer is management. Show me a failed business and I will find you poor management. Same with cities and neighborhoods? Why is Detroit in the condition its in? Gary? How about Englewood? Marquette Park. The answer is a constant succession of inept leaders.

The 19th ward is no different. What we have here now is a chance to decide if we are going to choose an innovative person or more of the same to be our leader.

I think Matt O'Shea is not even more of the same. He has been put into power by the old guard in a half witted attempt to hold on, when in reality, time has passed them by. Tom Hynes is behind him because Matt follows directions and doesnt do too much thinking. Mike Sheahan is behind him because he married Sheahan's neice. Those are the only reasons Matt O'Shea is in the position he is in. And because of that we now have the Rugais, O'Rourkes, Bileckis, etc, telling us how much Matt has done for the neighborhood. The propaganda machine is at full throttle.

Lets look at Matt's performance during this most recent election. He failed to do anything to help Governor Quinn. He kept Quinn lawn signs in his garage and wouldn't distribute them. He didn't return calls to Quinn asking for help. Same with the party chairman Joe Berrios. Matt failed to even carry him despite Berrios going on to win by a margin of 2 to 1. Why? This is leadership? I think it's a lack of leadership. I think a willingness to take orders from people with their own agendas demonstrates a inability to lead.

The problem with that is the 19th ward just cant afford another 20 years of a do nothing alderman. Western Avenue is a disgrace. The residents want good places to eat drink and be merry. The future of this neighborhood depends on it's ability to attract residents with some measure of disposable income. Instead, the current leadership takes a vacant lot, fences it off, sods it and calls it a memorial to fallen firemen. How cute. How shortsighted can you get? That lot would be better used as parking for the pubs across the street. Is it any wonder why some of the children of the 19th ward power brokers have moved to Western Springs, LaGrange and the north side?

The 19th Ward powers are asking for us to elect Matt O'Shea and continue on the tradition of getting nothing done. Sorry, I cant do that.

I think the fact that Rugai voted for this sham budget is disgusting. And I agree with the previous poster concerning firemans park. How about using that money to upgrade the facilities at Kennedy, Ridge, Monroe, Mt. Greenwood, etc.

That Fireman memorial is an insult to the firemen. We are just being used as filler.

The 19th ward had the highest percentage of voter participation in the state. That gets attention from every politician in the country. Democrat or Republcan. The political success of our ward is a product of the people in our ward. The politicians may take the credit. But the voters deserve the credit.

Don't kid yourself Matt O'Shea is very involved in our neighborhood and has always paid attention to any problem that we have had right away. You really should not make generalizations about things that you don't know about first hand, and about a person that you don't. If you chose to only believe what you read in the paper, then I guess you voted for Obama as well as whomever else the media tells you that you should. Also if you don't want your neighborhood to look like Roseland youth foundations are important. Too many people in the Beverly/Mt Greenwood area think if they send their kids to Catholic Schools they don't have to teach morals and ethics at home, and their little punks are running through the neighborhood acting like they are untouchable. Funny enough many of them I know are cops kids. So maybe its time to look inward.

Matthew OShea is a cheap imitation of Ginger Rugai. Another phony. I say toss them out.

Has anyone asked him what he is campaigning for? What his plans are for the ward? I have and he had absolutely no response. That's pathetic. You want a new garbage can, he and Ginger are all over it. Solutions for real problems, no can do. Unless you are already his buddy, he has no time for you. Do you have a camera to take his picture while he shows up to "help" with a worthwhile cause? He's there. God knows nothing else would ever get him to set his foot in Barnard Elementary school otherwise.

Looks like fluffer tom's family made alot of dirty lobbying money!

    Chicago Suntimes!

Last year alone, Tim Dart, 43, was paid $541,500 to lobby Daley's staff, the City Council and city agencies on behalf of 15 clients, records filed by the younger Dart with City Hall show

Tim Dart is active in his brother's political career. He's chairman of the sheriff's two campaign funds, and he helped organize his brother's brief mayoral bid.

Tim Dart and his law partner have given more than $180,000 to political candidates since 2005.

The Darts' late father, William F. Dart, was second-in-command of the city's law department under the late Mayor Richard J. Daley. The elder Dart went on to become a powerful lobbyist with clients including the Chicago Board of Trade.

Apples Dont Fall far from the tree Tommy fluff boy!

I wonder if Sheriff Tommy Fluff gets a kickback for backing out. He would have been the strongest candidate. The article is an eye-opener. Timmy gets half a million dollars to deprive the taxpayers of control of their government. If we enacted a 99% tax on lobby money we could balance the budget.
