NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The city is proposing a design to expand fifth-generation wireless technology — also known as 5G.

On Tuesday, it released renderings of possible 5G towers.

The city hopes utilizing space on the sidewalks will bring a more equitable rollout of high-speed internet to help close the digital divide.

The new “Link 5G” towers would rise 32 feet into the air.

There is no word yet on if or when they’ll be approved.

Not enough graft in it for city officials to consider it, perhaps Vanecko wireless LLC with a loan from one of the pension funds can get the project moving.
