Really? Matt threw everyone under the bus? Seems the opposite, really. He made the smart move and they didn't stick around like they have in other situations. And, before the shooting happened, he was clearly visible in trying to fight the processions coming through the neighborhood.
It's pretty sad that you have such hatred for a person who has done more for the people of this neighborhood since the Sheahan's or the Joyce's. Unlike the majority of the other aldermen, he doesn't have a second job and he is shows his face at everything in the ward, whether it's a fundraiser, a funeral or some other event.
It would be fun to see you - whoever you are - try and do what he has done for the people of the community. Really fun. And though it's hypothetical to say, I'm guessing that if you were the alderman when BLM blew through town, they'd still be up at 111th and Kedzie causing a commotion.
Sounds like someone has an enormous chubby for our alderman. However, given the choice of letting these rabble-rousers spew their bullshit for a couple days or spend your free time marking your calendar for weekly visits from these un-entitled, I think he took the most expedient way out of the shit storm. Things could be a lot worse, there's an alderman in the 45th Ward who is planning a large section 8 development in what would be an equivalent of 111th and Kedzie (Lawrence & Milwaukee). On top of that 45th Ward Alderman Arena has his staff doing lookups of posters on his Twitter account and if they happen to be police or fire employees, he's getting CR numbers on them. Getting back to the 19th ward, nobody's crazy about the demonstrations, or the press coverage that slanted all of us as racists, but again, they had their pizza and they're gone. The whole thing was aggravating, but I didn't feel tossed under a bus. And why the notation about the alderman being "Irish"?
It's not a chubby, just a fact, and you acknowledged as much in your response. There isn't much he can do to scrub the notion that the media exploited in painting the neighborhood with such a broad brush, or the fact that the guy had it coming. But they're gone now. Score one for Matt.

You low informed voters in the 19th ward, keep voting for Tom Dart. Dart the Demorat, that took pictures with Black Lies Matter leader . Anyone that defense about theses two political clowns, must be relatives or lackey's.
That will fix everything, if you want more of something subsidize it if you want less tax it. It worked wonders when it came to Illegitimate births now 3 out of 4 black babies are born out of wedlock.
Too many in the 19th ward owe these politicians their jobs they will keep voting Democrat even though pension cuts are coming! Vote for Rauner to protect your pension the first thing Pritzker will do when Democrats take back control is cut the pensions they won't do it with a Republican in office. Legalizing Marijuana and more casinos won't be enough to save them no Hillary bailout.
