Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart
He has all the trappings of being a connected hack. A lifelong 19th Warder, son of a ward healer, nephew of a bookie, brother of a lobbyist, tax consultant and tax appraiser; he held a number of political jobs until he was appointed to his first political office.
On the other hand, since being slid into the sheriff's office seven years ago, he has focused all of his energy and time on issues
affecting those that some would call disadvantaged. Blacks, mentally ill, insane, prostitutes, gays, deadbeat apartment tenants, etc. He has injected himself into issues such as a quarry in Bremen township, appointed himself the Inspector General in a dozen suburban villages and even played with the idea of his office taking over the functions of the Chicago Police Department. All this while his payroll is packed with unemployable hack lawyers and directors, most of whom would starve if it wasn't for his generosity. Meanwhile, the morale among his jail guards is mighty low.
He would have everyone believe that these disadvantaged people have his heart and that despite his privileged upbringing he stands ready and willing to assist them. In putting forth this proposition he practically quotes the teachings of St. Francis as a justification for his actions. His detractors say that he is a rogue, merely pandering to certain voting blocks and still is a connected hack at the end of the day.
He seems to be a good family man. He keeps a fair distance from local politics, getting others to do his heavy lifting.
Now as the Rahm administration is in it's final days, there are few in position to seize the 5th floor. Tom Dart has the political good will and fundraising ability necessary to come out on top in a special election. Is this the guy we want? The fiscal problems facing the city and Board of Education are without precedent. The racial divide is horrible. Can Dart tackle these problems? Is the choice of Dart better for our neighborhood or will it bring heat upon the local residents?

These family hacks have embraced liberal views out of necessity. Pro immigration and gay marriage must be supported for their political survival. The architects of the far left takedown know these hacks are easily manipulated because their career politicians.The future is not pretty.

DeleteYou say the Rahm administration is in it's final days. Do you really believe that? Do other people? What are the rumblings around the 19th? Is Dart making any moves? Is Skinny or Pickle priming something to get the ball rolling to help call for Rahm's ouster? Eddie Burke scheming? Matt talking with Patrick Daley Thompson about things? Once a handful of white alderman hop on publicly, along with a hispanic or two, the dominos begin to fall and Rahm is on his way out. But I say that quite skeptically. Who has the balls? Or do you know something we don't? What's the pulse, Murph?

ReplyDeleteGiven the current climate, the diminishing tax base, the budget crisis, the pension crisis, the school crisis and looming teachers strike, who'd want to be mayor. Maybe they should take everyone that files for the spot and the candidate with the fewest votes gets the job. There's an awful lot of us that have put down our roots here, with jobs and kids in school. And the conditions here probably aren't that much different than anywhere else in the country, but unfortunately, no elected official has come up with anything innovative that leaves a glimmer of hope as to whats going to be left for the next generations. At budget time, every politician gets up there and says, "we've got some tough decisions to make". And then they continue with more entitlement programs, more giveaways and squeeze those already paying for programs they don't participate in for more tax dollars.
ReplyDeleteEvery time you hear a politician talk about transparency, you can substitute the word pandering. Its as though we're watching a magician close up and trying to detect the slight of hand. Because at the end of the day, those proclaiming transparency are every bit as manipulative as those they criticize.
The governor campaigned for more than a year before the election season even started, promising to shake up Springfield and to date all he's been able to do is to hold up the budget and stiff the lottery winners. He's got about 8 other places he can live, maybe its time for him to make a choice.
And the deal with the Mayor and the police video, coming on the tail end of Ferguson, New York and Baltimore. For an upcoming election it was the perfect storm of what no politician would have to deal with. We're in a deep hole right now, and there's nobody I see that has the talent, brains, idea and innovation to drag us out of it.
Very happy with Tom Dart. If he does run for Mayor, I will support him.

ReplyDeleteSeems to me that the powerful leftist coalition of Socialists ie...Chgo Pub Schls VP, BLM, Link Card crowd of agitators for more freebies ("community organizers"), far left media frauds, the whole cast of other Communist Union leaders, George Soros funded left wing groups of all stripes, the Black Democrats all looking for more mone, Univ of Chicago Bill Ayers leftist academia, wealthy North Shore Socialists, etc...all wanted Rahm IN. They thought he would continue business as usual, or even expand on their redistribution agenda. Surprise ! He did not EXACTLY, go along completely. Now CPS wants to strike again ? We have another Democratic Party debt bomb just like we have in Springfield and nationally. Most of the blame is squarely on the policies promoted by these same screw balls. So Rahm gets kicked out. Now we have a power vacuum. Do the Black leaders use this as an oppty to put their person in? Will they care about us or will they just look at us as another cash cow for their insane ideas of spending and redistributing my hard earned money?

ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean incompetent> It has been two years since he mistakenly let a convicted murderer walk out the front door or locked a visitor in the jail for two days. Only in the private sector do you get fired for minor mistakes like that.
DeleteI know a few people hired by Dart to six figure jobs that hate him. He gets them huge jobs and they talk shit behind his back. They say is a total psychopath who treats employees like garbage. One said if the public could see how he acts in private they would never vote for him. It was drunk talk so who knows, but these guys are not ones to just make shit up like that.

DeleteDart treats his military employees like garbage. Maher is not the only one who successfully sued him. Not only did Dart fire Maher for serving his Country he made a bogus charge against him. If you read the federal complaint Dart tried to get Maher charged with theft for not Turning in his Sheriff ID the day after he was fired. The federal judge in the case labasted Dart during Summary Judgment. The county settled qquickly before Dart was charged with a crime..
ReplyDeleteLet's not forget the 2.5 million political retaliation suit Dart had to pay for targeting the response team at the jail. Dart has literally cost taxpayers millions. The next big payout will be his illegal actions against Backpage. The federal appeals court just ruled he violated the first amendment.
