This past Friday and Saturday mornings, we were driving to Jewel and encountered a slow moving traffic jam at a time when all the other traffic was moving good. It was caused by every other car pulling out of 7-11 and Dunkin Donuts trying to make a left turn. In doing so they are blocking 2 lanes of arterial traffic while they inch out.
Like other urban renewal projects of the pre-O'Shea era, this one too was half-baked. Something remedial can be done. Visible No Left Turn signs, enforcement of those signs, redesign of the driveways.
Streets and San response to the blizzard has been great. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI agree but let's add another traffic problem. The Beverly Hills car wash on Western. That's brutal. How can cars be allowed to line up in a traffic lane is beyond me. Something needs to be done. Alderman, Alderman wanna be have any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteAGREE, THAT CAR WASH IS BEYOND POOR PLANNING. ITS A NUISANCE. I AM SURE THAT THE CITY CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. ALSO WHAT IS THE STORY WITH THE LIME GREEN? NASTY.
DeleteCITY NEEDS A SIGN ORDINANCE. NO MORE NEON, NO MORE 2FT LETTERS, NO MORE LIME GREEN. WHEN A BUSINESS WANTS A BUILDING PERMIT, FOR ANYTHING, MAKE THEM APPEAR BEFORE A BUSINESS BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE FIRST.
"Beautification Committee"?
DeleteMore opportunity for graft and corruption.
A beautification committee appointed by Matt would be legit.
DeleteThe CEO of Dunkin Donuts believes that amnesty for illegals will stimulate the economy. I choose not to go there.

Nothing is worst that a sign saying BRAIDS in neon.
ReplyDeleteThe traffic is a nightmare on 111th and kedzie but it is a 7-11 not the former White Hen. That triangular parking lot should never had been approved.
ReplyDeletesuck a parking lot would never have been approved in the suburbs.
DeleteChill would ya? Take a spin down the block and fire up your old ride with some new rims, there's a business I could live without.
ReplyDeleteI agree about the Car Wash....not only is the line snaking onto Western...you have ignorant customers actually blocking 101st Street. And they have five or ten cars lined up where it should be a walkway with people drying their cars. They are even parking their cars on the north side of 101st Street. I have gone by there many times and I have never ever ever seen even ONE person that I recognized from this neighborhood. Lets face it the Car Wash is 95 percent black and these people are coming from outside the community. Call O'Shea BEFORE his ordination in February if you want any response. There is some times when there could be 50 or more cars on or trying to get into the Car Wash! It really is out of control. But once again our typical 19th Ward reaction by the "sheeple" will be "Oh I don't want to get anybody in the 19th Ward mad at me....you know my job and all." We should be more like New Yorkers who told DeBlasio where to go when those cops were executed!!
ReplyDeleteWhen you have stupid, moronic incompetent Democrat Politicians running everything everywhere into the ground, what do you expect? Just look at them, all Shit-For-Brains. All they know are 3 words, LIE, TAX, and STEAL.
ReplyDeleteWestbound 111th Street from the California to Kedzie has been a hassle even before the Dunkin Donuts opened. Once you get through the light at Kedzie, you have to remember about the speed cameras by the Ag School. What a pain in the ass.
ReplyDeleteI stand corrected. It is a 7-11, now.
ReplyDeleteWhich Jewel?....103rd or 115th? You'll see a bunch of folks from the car wash on 100th and Western at the Jewel on 115th
ReplyDeleteanybody have any info on the robbery at the old Kean gas station at 111th and Talman last week?
ReplyDeleteredesign the driveways so no left turn can be made. whoever approved that project the way it is was not thinking.
