When the doorbell rings this evening and you find 8 black kids on your porch, treat them like you would treat any kid and remember they are children. Children that just want to have fun on Halloween. Contrary to local folklore, most of them are chaperoned. The reason they come to Beverly on Halloween? Safety. Treat them right.
Try to imagine the life they have the other 364 evenings of the year.
Are you kidding me???
ReplyDeleteYes, they are children, I do not fault them — but treat them the same???
Hell no!
There is the candy bowl for the kids who LIVE here and then there is the candy bowl for the kids on the welfare.
Treat them the same — you lost your damn mind. Yeah, go ahead, show them that they are the same — that they will always get handouts from whitey... That wont leave to problems ten years from now — will it?
This is the ugliest comment that could be posted. The writer is a f----- a-----e.
DeleteJust your typical irish catholic attitude.
DeleteWow, I shutter to think this type of person lives in our neighborhood. Disgusting.
DeleteDo you shutter or shudder?
DeleteYou are a sad sad person!!!!!!!!!!
DeleteAs a police officer i know for a fact that last year there were numerous calls of roving groups of black kids damaging cars and beating up white kids in the neighborhood. I believe a few of the calls came in from the St Barnabas area near Longwood. I agree we should treat them the same as other kids, i just wish they would treat our kids the same when they come here (ie the 5 bonafide black on white armed robberies over the summer here and the racially motivated black on white fight at Beverly Park).
ReplyDeleteI think blogger is talking about children going door to door for t or t. Roving groups of teenagers from another area is different.
ReplyDeleteThe roving groups calls took place last halloween. The offenders were described as male black teens in costumes
Deletei agree with Murph
ReplyDeleteYes - and when my kids go and trick-or-treat in their neighborhood, may I ask to be treated the same?
ReplyDeleteYour post was a bit condescending. I slightly appreciate what you are saying, but it implies that we somehow are not treating black children the same, which is just flat wrong.
Theres been allot of crap out there about this. One lady suggest we change the date of Halloween so that the black kids wouldnt know when to trick or treat.
DeleteKeep an eye out for the jags driving around jumping out of the car, and running up to the house that leaves the bowl on the porch then taking the entire bowl. I saw this last year, and by the time I realized what they were doing and got outside they were halfway down the street. No, it wasn't who you thought it was i'm sure. It was a f/2 hillbilly. Stay safe everyone.
ReplyDeleteI agree in principle with Murph. But part of the problem is the sheer number of kids. I am not buyin candy for 300+ kids. That is three times the number of kids in the neighborhood. I won't turn them away if they have a costume and appear to be within the general age boundaries of trick/treaters. I also do not give to the other bag for the "sick" brother or sister. I do feel bad for the kids who cannot t/t in their own neighborood but maybe their churches should offer after school parties. Just a thought...and as Murph said they are just kids and we are the adults...
ReplyDeleteI never agree with you on anything.........but I do on this. These kids are just trying to have a nice halloween. If I lived in Roseland, you can bet your ass I'd bring my kids west every year.
ReplyDeletei just shut my lights off at 7:30. only had a big run for about an hour. not as bad as pass years. i am abbout a block west of ridge park. lottsa run bys they just ran past.
ReplyDeleteWe had over 150 kids from outside the neighborhood trick or treat at our house. All of the kids were were nice and happy and seemed to have fun without causing any trouble. All of the kids were accompanied by adults, even though some of the adults were a little rough around the edges they seemed to appreciated being able to be with their kids, and every kid said thank you.
ReplyDeleteThat's so nice. It was all about the kids.
