The St. Sabina Southwest Catholic Conference was a total set up from the beginning. First it wasn't good enough to allow the St. Sabina kids to play all their games in our neighborhood because of safety concerns in Auburn-Gresham. Rather than be labeled racists the naive parents caved in to Father Pfleger and agreed to put their children at risk by playing games in the dangerous neighborhood. When one of the St.Sabina's kids allegedly was called the n-word Father Pfleger, using the kids as publicity pawns, yanked the kids out of the league. Two questions the media never asked were wasn't it wrong for Fr. Pfleger to prejudge a whole group of people based on the alleged actions of one individual and where would we be as a nation if Dr. Martin Luther King ran away every time he was called the n-word.
The Father Perez Knights of Columbus raise more money and do more acts of mercy for the less fortunate, including African Americans, than just about any local fraternal organization in the country. There are many African American patrons that have been welcomed and treated respectably at the K of C , including non-Knights, such Catholic League alumni and police and firefighters attending or organizing fundraising events. Somebody is definitely trying to receive an unjust enrichment here.
hell ya its a setup, the media will be in mt.greenwood soon!
ReplyDeleteSure brings to mind the athletic league "racism" boondogle out of St Sabina a few years back

DeleteThere seems to be more to the story.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. There does seem to be more, here. Why no comment from the locals?

How pathetic.
ReplyDelete1) He gets a DUI; then
2) Shows up for drinks at a bar; then
3) Alleges he was not welcome at the bar.
I received my Columbia magazine in the mail today, ironically. Perhaps I will reinstate my membership.
I just saw Pickle on TV. When did he get a gut?
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Fran Hurley have the Black Knight's of Columbus over to house for a beer summit
