I was under the impression that a certain amount of money needed to be raised and pre-paid prior to the final decision. While people are at liberty to spend their money as they see fit, tonights fundraiser, in my opinion is a bit much. Really? Raise money for private secruity to keep our neighborhood safe for a few hours on a Sunday because our police force is stretched far to thin. Maybe we should be throwing a fundraiser at Bourbon Street to raise money to hire a few more police officers and oh why not some more firemen as well. Priorites, priorites.
I am getting the feeling that Ald Matt is speaking out of both sides of his mouth. He needs to get out there and request funding from the city to make sure this parade comes off. Zero tolerance is a good start but we need the police to enforce it. And the police cost money.
Matt made his position clear. What makes you say he is speaking out of both sides of his mouth? The fundraiser, and there has been a fundraiser for the parade since the 80s, will raise money for police presence among other things.
Shame on Alderman Matt O'Shea for convincing the pastors of all of the neighborhood Catholic parishes not to participate in the family friendly, religion based St. Patrick's day parade while at the same time advancing his Pro-Abortion, Pro-Gay Marriage agenda through the candidacy of the ultra-liberal Fran Hurley.
Explain your comment. In what way has the alderman convinced pastors of "all" the neighborhood Catholic parishes not to participate in the parade? The parade is not based on religion. In Ireland people go to mass and then home to have a meal with family. St. Patrick's Day is treated as a holy day. No parties and excessive drinking.
What agenda do you imagine the alderman has for gay marriage and abortion?
O'Shea spoke with all the neighborhood schools/churches and asked them not to participate in the parade. Wouldn't be better to have the kids march with their schools rather than hanging out in the alleys. Nice move O'Shea!
A parish not entering a float doesn't mean that they were told not to. Furthermore, "parish floats" weren't typically arranged by the pastor. They were put together by a group of people who wanted to put them together.
Nothing is done in the name of any parish without the pastor's consent. Accordingly,"parish floats" could not be arranged by the parishoners without prior approval from the pastor.
some one with a Warpped sense of humour prob a cop has been putting sigs up in the 002 and 003 dist, telling residents that free food ribs chicken and beer will be given to all who attend the parade, WTF.

I for one do not think that the alderman has any agenda for gay rights and abortion. I do think that some of his associates do.

ReplyDeleteMurph had to work Sat. My wife went there instead. Said it was fun.
ReplyDeleteSupply evidence about schools and churches being told not to participate.
ReplyDeleteJust take a look on Parade day and see which parishes did not enter a float.
DeleteI HATE THAT THEY ARE SHOVING THIS PARADE DOWN OUR THROATS!!!
