What is going on with all the democratic machine ass kissing?
Are you worried that if all these mutts don't get to stay in power you're out of your patronage job??

Mike Sheahan was a true stand up guy. More importantly, one thing he was not, was a phoney.
Basically all of our local "leaders", all Democrats, are very liberal, Dart, Maloney, Cunningham, Hurley, O'Shea et al...
They truly do not represent a significant portion of this area. They use the Catholic Church and their Irish affiliations to con the voters and maintain POWER.
MIke Sheahan was cut from a different cloth. While a Democrat, he was not a looney leftist like these people in office. He was a police officer - You could trust this guy. The new power are truly phoney and pretend not to be liberal. All pro abortion, pro gay marriage and at their core philosophically, anti-business.
It is truly sad what has happened to our ward. And not surprisingly, the people who are left running things, their influences dwindles each year. One good racial incident in this area, and we could see a flight of people out of Beverly. And sorry Mt. Greenwood, but once the unique neighborhood of Beverly goes, you are next on the list. Also a word of advice to Matt O'Shea - if you put a candidate on a mailer that has Barack Obama on it - that would be bad marketing. He is far more unpopular than you know - even in this "Democratic" Ward.

Let's all stick together. I'll probably see you at the parade. It's alright to disagree. You can't get it all. Compromise is what made America great, especially THE 19th WARD. This attitude of F-Sheahan...F-Dart...F-Hynes..F-O'Shea will only bring us all down eventually. I'd like to continue to live in this unique area...Beverly/Mt. Greenwood...I voted for Dart, Sheahan, Hynes and O,Shea and will continue to do so. Individually, they are all good in their own right. Collectively, there is no greater power in Chicago than the 19th Ward and their past and present leaders. We must support our leaders even though we don't agree with them 100% of the time. Let's put the egos aside and move forward.

Here's to another 30 years of running this city

I keep getting Hurley literature in the mail, but none of it answers the key question of:

Does Hurley support the reelection of President Obama?

To the person who post the above: Wake up the party is over-the 19th ward has NO power what so ever anymore. Do you think anyone outside his patronage job friends take Matt O'Shea serious?

In the years past Jerry Joyce and Tom Hynes had some power, but with Rahm- the days of the 19th ward being a power ward the game is over.

Dart's decision not to run for mayor coupled with the ward's decision to support Chico were the missteps that ended the 19th ward "running" the city.

You must be out of your mind to think that the 19th Ward even has a seat at the table !! The Heffernans, the Joyces, the Hynes, Eileen Carey, Rugai, Mike Sheahan.. what do they all have in common ?? They all retired with a nice pension and what does the 19th ward have Oshea ? Give me a break !! I going to run for Alderman next go around, Im going to run as a Republican so we dont get remapped like we did this last time. The ward is here for the taking, "It Aint What It Use To Be"!!!

As for Mr. Sheahan, one of the greatest guys you will ever meet in your life, a stand up man!!

Hmm? When did Matt O'Shea ever state a position on abortion or gay marriage, and what reason would he have to do so? Answer: he didn't and none. To the other commenter who thinks a Republican alderman would/could prevent a ward remap - please become informed.

Matt O'Shea revealed that he is pro-abortion when he selected the pro-abortion extremist Fran Hurley as his candidate of choice for state representative.
