I remember being in high school when Jane Byrne was elected mayor. She ran against the evil cabal and the 11th ward. I suspect that she knew things that she wouldn't dare say. Was she trying to tell us something? Here we are 32 years after her election and the city is in disarray. The pension funds will soon be depleted and the future looks bleak. Why did we disregard her? Why were we so quick to dismiss her?
I actually had a little trisk with her daughter back then.... Wow those were the days...

ReplyDeleteBack then Daley got Hynes and Joyce to along with him in return for bags of gold. Despite the popular belief, the gold was never delivered. Instead it went the 11th Ward boys. Today, Hynes and Joyce are living off their multiple pensions.

All this bullshit that Sneed stirred up to get the Circle interchange was nothing more than revisionist history. Go look at the archives. She was thick as thieves with Charlie Swibel and Roti, and all the rest of them. Open your eyes for Christsakes, you've been dreaming.
ReplyDeleteJane almost made it on the square,the 19th ward people hated her cause she got and held the keys and the 11th hated her cause she had them by the balls.the firemen hated her cause number 1 she was a woman and number 2 she made them eat humble pie,when they found out public opinion was on her side they couldnt get back into the fire houses fast enough,as a cop i loved her cause i got time and a half for overtime instead of time due and a load of back pay uniform money out of grade i never knew i had coming and the money was alaways there,GOD BLEES YOU JANIE,YOU WERE OKAY AND THE CPD LOVED YOU...
