Serious Catholics should not send their children there.
Below is a reprinted newspaper article.
Former Ambassador and Presidential Candidate Alan Keyes and Father Norman Weslin, found of the Pro-Life group Lambs of Christ walked on the campus of Notre Dame University on Friday with approximately fifteen others to pray the Rosary and witness to their opposition to the appearance of President Barack Obama at Sunday’s commencement. Two hundred yards later they were stopped by police, arrested and taken away in handcuffs.
The actions of the Notre Dame police were taped and re-broadcast on the Internet just after the event took place.
Those arrested were part of a larger gathering of almost 50 people that met off campus. Police had already informed the group that they would be arrested if they stepped foot on Notre Dame property. Following talks by Randall Terry and others, the crowd prayed the Rosary, Then the smaller group walked on campus carrying a banner as they continued reciting the Rosary.
The group walked up the driveway on campus, while police, along with a group of reporters, photographers and videographers, waited for them with a van just a few hundred yards away. Dr. Keyes was one of the first arrested after one of the officers demanded they leave campus.
The encounter became more intense when police began to remove Father Norman Weslin, a former Army Colonel who became a priest after his wife died in a tragic automobile accident. In his 80’s, Fr. Weslin is a familiar figure in the work of Pro-Life through Lambs of Christ.
The elderly priest was singing when he was handcuffed and taken to the ground and carried off on a stretcher.
This probably marks the first time in the history of the University when individuals have been arrested on campus for exercising their Catholic convictions and praying a prayer that has been recited in their chapel millions of times since its founding in 1842.
It's almost Satanic.
ReplyDeleteTHE TROUBLE WITH DOMERS IS THAT THEY ACTUALLY BELIEVE THEIR BULLSHIT.
ReplyDeleteFuck Notre Dame. They allowed Crucifixes to be removed as ordered by Obama 666 when he spoke there, and gladly welcomed him. The Lord's Chastisement will now be upon Notre Dame.
ReplyDeleteTheir play-police should also be ashamed of themselves, frickin Barney Fifes.
What they did was Satanic.
ReplyDeleteits sick. I would send my kids to that place ever. nd is catholic by name only. not by word or deed. anyone that supports nd is out of their mind.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how much donations fell off after Obama's appearance.
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame was such a great Catholic institution. It is now an institution being run by people whose top priority is not the promotion of strict Catholic ideology. It's time for the church to take this place back.
ReplyDeleteI think there may be a lesson here for those other Catholic colleges that vere off the course.
knew for yrs that ND was going leftist, the staff of profs there are so anti american that it would make you puke, gay this, protest that, etc etc, dont break your bank to stroke your ego folks, there are other fine catholic institutions for a great and less expesive education,
ReplyDeletetoo bad the ND police take weeks to investigate rape cases on campus. why aren't any of you righteous folks harping on that?
ReplyDeleteTrue. But bringing up a particular instance does not mean that you do not care about the other instance(s). I think the blogger has video of the actual story and this story so blatantly shows that the Catholic instittution itself - is anti-Catholic - or at the very least hypocrital. That being said you are right that they appear to shield protected Football players from allegations of rape - is sickening as well. And don't forget the boy who was the videographer of the team who fell to his death from an unstable platform while filming PRACTICE due to high winds. Win - at any cost.

ReplyDelete"Five days after Fr. Norman Weslin’s death, the University of Notre Dame joined 42 Catholic groups in religious liberty lawsuits against the Obama Administration."
This is from last June.
Also, the parents of the poor lad who died on the scaffold have no animosity towards Notre Dame, and in fact are cheering them on tonight.
What is this need to insist on some kind of weird "Catholic purity" test? If we insist on this as Catholics, we do so in denial of the Church's own recent transgressions.
If my kid was put up on a scaffold in terrible weather conditions and asked to film a football team practice and was killed - I would not be cheering on the team that put winning ahead of virtually EVERYTHING, most importantly my son's life. Just because the parents are loopy means nothing! But in truth that family is as brainwashed as can be. Sort of reminds me of Obama koolaid drinkers. Head should have rolled for that! p.s. Just watched that video and wanted to puke. Roll Tide !!
DeleteI think it is weird to say the least, that a Catholic priest was arrested at a Catholic University for standing up for the beliefs of the Catholic Church. Actually it is more than weird - it is sick. Notre Dame has been overrun by leftist America haters for decades and now they are showing their true colors.
DeleteI am Irish and Catholic - two things Notre Dame clearly is no more.

ReplyDeleteSatan at work.
ReplyDeleteI do not know a thing about the specific incident with the priest, but it seems that there exists a Catholic identity crisis. Ironically, Notre Dame has always had an identity crisis: a French name (Our Lady) and calls itself Irish.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, there is a larger identity crisis of what it means to be Catholic. There is an element of our community that wants to define Catholicism as socially conservative. Is Catholic the Roman curia? Is it the institution of the papacy? Catholic means universal. Has the term Catholic changed to refer exclusively to the succession bishops and priests? Or does it really mean universal?
Bishops are in the Catholic church supposed to be successors of the Apostles (twelve representing the 12 tribes of Israel). You will find that many Bishops do not hold conservative views on a range of issues; there seems to be shock and denial of this by some Catholics.
There are a few things that I would reform, and I want to preface this by stating that most Catholics, when polled, are socially liberally.
Suggested reforms that would go a long way to enhancing the Catholic church:
1) Eucharistic openness (with a ban on excommunication);
2) Allow priests to marry (the celibacy law is not originally Catholic, and all of the Apostles were married; voluntary celibacy may/should be encouraged); and
3) Ordination of women.
I would also suggest less rigidity to concepts of sexuality and contraceptives. It should embrace its Christo-centric origins and the traditions of openness, universality, and practice ecumenism.
The emphasis on orthodoxy is not necessary, and I truly do believe---call me an idealist here---that the Catholic Church and the papacy could be one of the most powerful forces for peace in the world. The sovereign country, Vatican City, could become a Switzerland and have a role as a mediator among countries and groups that are in conflict. Again, call me an idealist, but there is such underutilized influence that the Catholic church (and country Vatican City) could use to accomplish so much on a global scale. But I am a bit off on a tangent here.
Wow! My comment is approved! Alex Jones was on Piers Morgan tonight. I really do feel encouraged for freedom of speech at this very moment. I really thought I was excommunicated (for whatever reason).
DeleteI feel like I should say something on point, but I never really cared about Notre Dame. I think the Irish thing is cool, and I will sometimes wear Notre Dame clothes. Eh - been to a few games. Thought they were overrated (sorry).
It is interesting because I do not want our Catholic institutions (schools, hospitals, etc.) to lose their Catholic identity. But I think there is a legitimate debate of how we define Catholicism; i.e., is it "universal" or is it rigidly conservative on some issues. I hope universal.
The polarizing issues of euthanasia, homosexuality, abortion, etc. should not frame the concept of Catholicism. In fact, it is a huge mistake to do just that because this rigid orthodoxy is not originally Catholic.
God is making Notre Dame "Not number one" right now at 9 Pm Alabama 28 and
ReplyDeleteNotre Dame ZILCH. They are about as Catholic as their scoring
ND is getting their just reward tonight. 42 to 14 Bama.
ReplyDeleteGod is Great ! Notre Dame is not.
ReplyDeleteI think the only identity crisis exists for those who have followed the Democratic Party as they unhinged from their moorings and slowly and consistently became ever more liberal, year by year and is now unrecognizable. They are now the Socialist and "Progressive" Party more similar to the philosphy of many European Parties. With this has come a rejection of traditional values as the Democrats have embraced the entire culture of the 60's radicals. Now many who considered themselves "Progressive Catholics" have reached a crossroads. Stay with the Church that opposes many of the "progressive" ideals of the left or break from the Church.
ReplyDeleteRead Mike Jones who lives in South Bend and publishes Culture Wars. Google and weep and spend a $ or more and read his books.
ReplyDeleteGood Irish Catholic Pro-Choice politicians like Bill Cunningham and Tom Dart think this is great..
