While Rugai was in office Western ave went from bad to worse. It is a total disgrace what she allowed to happen there. There was no logical reason for this to happen. Commercial blight in a neighborhood with a very high disposable income during the greatest real estate boom in American history? Come on people.
Ginger will always be remembered for her beautification of Western Avenue, revitalization of 95th Street, 111th st, rebuilt parks, new police station, new fire station, the new walgreens, CVS, rebuilt Metra stations, the new Ag school, new street lighting. And her greatest achievement was the construction of the Beverly Arts Center. Pretty hard to beat that record.
the new alderman will have some tough decisions to make.the city is broke and it will get worse, higher taxes or layoffs will be needed[start with cutting 25 aldermen].the city is short cops and the public pension system will be broke in 10 yrs or sooner.just for the record i am not a city worker, common sense says you can't cut first responders the city may have to privitize some of it's workforce or it will be forced to raise property taxes 10 fold!and wait until more non citizens come here.
Why do some people want to change to 25 aldermen? I understand it would save money, but at what cost to our ward in particular. Do you realize that if there are half as many wards, we will be included with either part of the 18th ward to the north or the 21st ward to the east (which is even worse) or both? I don't want to be lumped in with a place that is TOTALLY ghetto (21st) or still changing, but for the worse (18th). Our communities in 19 are unique in this city.
Why does The Capitalizer continue to incite others with his lies? Or maybe he's just a dumbass who can never get the story straight. Don't take the bait, readers! While I was never a John Somerville fan, the comments made above about him and his family are outrageous. Wasn't the dad a bricklayer, not a cop? Anyway, everyone should remember that this blog is often misused, and that some of the negative comments posted are totally false, often by design. If names were required, The Capitalizer (who has bad blog etiquette in his insistence on typing everything in upper case) would be in trouble and likely sued, as would some other commenters here. Remember that the In and Around 60655 blog host gave up because of the ugliness on that site. I'm sure some of the same people are on here.
These are the rules that are posted by the blog host on the right side of the screen near the top:
"The purpose of this blog is to serve as a forum to discuss problems facing our neighborhood. Please enjoy it. I will delete all swears or baseless attacks on people or institutions."
The "N" word appeared here recently. I guess to some people that isn't a "swear." I would disagree, but in any case, it's probably not a good idea to allow it here. Also, baseless attacks occurred just a few posts back. Can we elevate the level of discourse or else count on the offending comments being removed?
ginger was useless unless ur a close friend or family member or someone with clout that she helped get hired or promoted within cpd cfd etc. she ignored mt greenwood. i like matt oshea, but he has close ties to ginger, daley, kevin joyce and the rest of the democratic machine. if you want someone new and someone who cares about the entire 19th ward- VOTE FOR ANNE SCHAIBLE http://www.electanne.com
I NOMINATE RECENTLY RETIRED DETECTIVE NEIL MAAS, A WEST BEVERLY RESIDENT, TO TAKE THIS SPOT. THE 19TH WARD REGULAR DEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATION SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND HAVE GINGER RESIGN HER LAST FEW MONTHS AND HAVE NEIL TAKE THE SPOT.
Her retirement is the end of a great era for our neighborhood. I look forward to the Matt O'Shea era.
Get real buddy. It is still the 19th ward power system. Maybe it is time that someone OUTSIDE the organization took rein. It will be the same old thing with the same people getting the services.
Matt O'Shea may be a 'nice guy' but Rugai has been grooming him to take over for a long time. Look at how they have his name all over everything. His name has been put out there and it is not by accident. Ex: The quarterly newspaper with his name all over it. Sadly, Matt will be more of the same = less for Mt. Greenwood.
When will some of he residents of Mount Greenwood get the chip off their shoulders? You haven't been slighted in the least. Stop whining about how forgotten and mistreated you are. We have the same problems throughout the ward with services. The budget cuts have caused lights to be out longer, special pick-ups to take longer, etc. everywhere in the city, and certainly everywhere in the ward. You're delusional if you think friends and family of people who work in or with the ward office get special treatment.
I think he was the bartender at Reilly's Daughter and a janitor at the Ag School... Those qualifications are surely more impressive than M.D. Anne Schaible. Anyway, what kind of name is Schaible? I'm voting for the Irish guy.
I NOMINATE RECENTLY RETIRED DETECTIVE NEIL MAAS, A WEST BEVERLY RESIDENT, TO TAKE THIS SPOT. THE 19TH WARD REGULAR DEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATION SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND HAVE GINGER RESIGN HER LAST FEW MONTHS AND HAVE NEIL TAKE THE SPOT.
yea Matt Oshea kicked the shit out of Joe Oswalds ass, while he was out ringing door bells for John Somervilles election, Ginger got involved, put the pressure on the 22nd district commander, issued marching orders to Harmening who went up to the 22nd district and they got Matt Oshea out of lock up. and then they pressured Joe oswald to drop the case. ALL FACT, check it out. ask the dozens of folks, civilians, police officers who had first hand knowledge and were involved. so yea another shit bag replaces yet another. VOTE FOR ANNE SCHAIBLE
Matt O'Shea is a decent guy and I believe he cares about the Ward. I just think it's unfortunate that most likely, he will walk into this office without any real debate or challenge from a credible candidate. Dr. Schiable may be a fine person as well but she is not a viable candiate.
I also agree with several of the posts above about keeping comments civil and honest. The intent here is to have quality discussion. Name calling and slader serve no purpose.
To the poster(tool) about precinct captains. I think he means that his precinct captain "DD" lives in Palos. So what intrest does he have in the neighborhood since he lives in Palos? My answer, nothing, he is just another 19th ward hack doing political work because of the cush job he has. Good luck with Matt same as the old boss will be politics as usual. We need change not only in the 19th ward but in the whole city. These people are straight up crooks!!!!!!!!!!!!!Brogan u are a sexy thing..........
I estimate that over 60% of the precinct captains dont live in the ward. They used to live here but now they live in Orland and Tinley Park with one of them living in a mansion in Hinsdale.
Can you feel the excitement in the air? What exciting times for change we now have, we are so pumped up and excited, our ward will soon have a new torch bearer, Mathew O’shea! The ward is excited, the residents are excited, Matt’s friends and neighbors are excited. Matt is a fine young man who will serve our ward well, he has work very hard for the constituents of the 19th ward and the entire Democratic party, On August 17th at an open ward leadership meeting, our Honorable and long serving Alderman Mrs. Rugai sadly tendered her resignation to the 19th organization leadership, she spoke on her numerous accomplishments, there was not a dry amongst us. She then spoke to us in such a loving tenor and cadence that it reminded me of Sunday mass. As she spoke she told us that Matt O’shea should be our candidate for the future, she reminded us ALL of the HARD WORK and personal sacrifice matt has performed these many years for the 19th ward and his lifelong dedication to the Democratic Party. Allow me to second that notion and further speak to Matt’s accomplishments: Matt is a good young Irish Catholic man, a father, a husband and a friend to many, he has sacrificed his own time and efforts supporting: little league, and softball teams, many youth activities at the park districts, volley ball, football, wrestling, field Hockey and track meets, boy scouts, girl scouts, and bowling. He is an avid supporter at St. Xavier foot ball; he also loves Marist, Brother Rice and Mother McCauley. Matt has even been known to donate his time at the county animal refuge working with the un loved turned in puppies. Matt organized and runs the ridge run every year. Matt is in the ward office working 100 hours per week and with his patented open door policy is always helping the residents with garbage cans, and pot holes and alley clean ups, backed up sewers and fallen trees. He is instrumental in bringing the Ag school to our fine ward; you can find him there many times on a Saturday night cheering on the sporting teams. Matt O’shea has been a hard worker for families of the 19th ward and he does this tirelessly for the family and children of the 19th ward. Matt an avid movie buff, started the movies in the park several years back for the children. He always places the best interest of the children and families of the 19th ward in front of his own and his lovely wife and family fully support him. But his family is not the only group that supports him, oh no, Mayor Richard Daley, The Beloved past assessor Tom Hynes, Danny Hynes, Michael Madigan, Alderman Rugai, Jerry Joyce, Kevin Joyce, Tom Dart (in fact many people compare Matt as the new rising star, much like Tom Dart was 20 years ago), Michael Sheehan, Skinny Sheehan, Kathy Meaney, Rose Bilecki, Tom Ryan, Ed Harmening, the mayors of Oak lawn, Marionette park, Evergreen park all support matt. Worth township Democratic Party chair John O’Sullivan and many others. Matt has the full blessing (literally) of ALL the wards parish clergy. Matt will single handedly reverse the crime, carry on and improve upon the commercial developments, reverse those still few commercial blights and improve our wards school testing results for our children and he will do this within a few short year or two. He is the man for the job, his experience is long and true, he is a proven leader. The entire 19th ward Democratic organization, precinct captains and other political leaders all support matt and selected him to be the slated candidate for the upcoming election for Alderman city of Chicago ward 19. Congratulations Mr. Alderman O’Shea.
I PERSONALLY WOULD LIKE TO SEE MR. BARFIELD OF THE NIGS GONE WILD STORE AT 111TH AND WESTERN RUN FOR ALDERMAN, I HEARD FROM PPL AT KEEGANS THAT THE Osheas from his part of ireland did strange unnatural things with barn yard animals, just the type of guy we need as alderpeerson you bettum/
MATT O'SHEA is the recognized candidate of the Democratic 19th ward Orginization, all others should not attempt to usurp this action. Our party organization, committemen, precinct captains all took place in an open meeting and selected Matt O'Shea, the 19th wars organization has fairly selected Matt and he is our candidate and all party Democrats should recognize this and support Matt O'Shea for Alderman of the 19th ward. Congratulations Matt the People are behind you.
Simply because the racists, Teachers, police officers and Firefighters come on here and scream and yell and tell lies about the Ward Organization does not mean they are true. these cry babies have been around our Ward for too many years than i care to think, they are and have always been the cry babies and malcontents and always will be, most are racists as can be seen through their blogs. Matt was selected by us, those captains that are part of the real 19th ward organization in an open and fair selection process by the ward organization and Matt O'Shea is slated to be our candidate for alderman. Please do not believe any of the lies being circulated by the sour grape police, fire, teachers whom seem to be on here constantly ripping the organization, if you read these blogs you can see two things which are appearent: 1- they lie, 2- they are obviously racists.
Matt don't pay any attention to the detractors, the residents are behind you, the 19th ward Democratic organization is behind you and that is all you need. I agree with the other previous bloger..."can you feel the excitment" and I congratulate you Mr. Alderman the Honrable Mathew O'Shea.
". . . Matt will single handedly reverse the crime, carry on and improve upon the commercial developments, reverse those still few commercial blights and improve our wards school testing results for our children and he will do this within a few short year or two. . ."
Ginger had 20 years to accomplish these things and she failed. Why would we expect O'Shea to accomplish them "within a few short year or two" [sic]?
By the way, in 2008, we had a "Superman" candidate who promised us the world. He was elected President and has delivered nothing but divisiveness and a bigger deficit.
Matt will not win. We as a neighborhood a fed up with your so called 19th ward democratic party. You democrats have been stealing for 70 years time for change!!!!!!111
this is for the asshole that said police and firefighters are crybabies, you are a scumbag, this city has lost 4 first responders in the last 3 months.if you had any balls you would have went to the recent wake for the firefighter that died and told his brothers they are cybabies.i am not a first responder just a USMC VET who respects what they do,now go get ginger a cup of tea!
REALLY? Did the residents of Beverly have to raise their own money for a new playground? Do the residents of Beverly have their streets decorated for the holidays? Do the residents of Beverly have a High school for their kids to attend? Do the Baseball fields at Kennedy Park look like the fields at Mt. Greenwood Park? (I'm not talking about Miracle Field- which HAS not been taken care of). Lets not even talk about how long the Walgreens disaster has taken... Mt Greenwood has always been treated like the "red headed step child" of the 19th ward by Rugai and her Cronies...Give me a break!
these 19th ward "Democratic" organization folks have always been hostile towards the Police and Fire Fighters ever since they united in an effort when they almost upset the status quo apple cart in the late 1980's and almost dumped their whole crew. My brother is a fire fighter my sister a police officer, i work the private sector, but lets not kid ourselves here the 19th ward Democratic Organization could give two shits about the police or fire fighters. they have got a lot of balls, i will say, they think they can dictate to us who we will have for Alderman???? screw them.
these blogers are pathetic, I predict challengers smashed like dog shit once again....the 19th ward will win again and they the cry babies will lose AGAIN because they think they actually make a difference, you cannot beat the machine PERIOD wake up droids, do as your told, fight our fires patrol our streets, teach our kids and be thankful you have a job and shut the hell up, we are tired of hearing from you, except on election day of course. GO 19th ORG!!!!!
Yea we drink tea, you losers hang out in MGP and play softball and drink beer all night, then the next day still drunk you climb on your fire trucks and into your patroll cars and drive around with your sirens & flashing lights. Us college folks have a bit higher standards and earning potential ya DIG? now as you stated go me a cup of tea son.
I can’t believe that Rugai is going to choose not to run as her way out. She should be stepping down 8 months before the race or just after the 2011 primary . This was Jerry Joyce, 19th ward committeeman since 1975 can appoint the next person to the throne. You are telling me that the 19th ward voters with have the rare opportunity to choose the next alderman in a election? Say it ain’t so.
Matt O’ Shea? I think more than 50% of the people in the 19th ward don’t know his name, wouldn’t know him on the street if they saw him.
Precinct captains voted for him? What the 3 or 4 precinct captains that are Hynes hold overs? The 19th ward basically doesn’ t have captains anymore. It not Joyce’s style anymore.
Yes, complainer, the residents of Beverly do raise money for their own playgrounds, and they did it almost 20 years before it was done at Mount Greenwood Park. Kellogg's grass and fence were paid for by the residents of North Beverly, most of whom sent their children to Christ the King. The Board of Ed wouldn't pay for the improvement of their own property. Many years later, actually just a few years ago, the playground equipment at Kellogg was paid for by fundraising, spearheaded by North Beverly resident Erin Ross. The property at Sutherland was improved by the residents for the most part. Like Kellogg, this is now a nice playground for children, surrounded by grass rather that pavement. What school do you think the residents of Beverly can send their kids to that Mount Greenwood residents can't use? What is your nonsense about Christmas decorations in Beverly? Thanks for proving my point about the whining that goes on with some residents of Mount Greenwood. You may not be aware of how much some of the residents of the ward do for themselves. Mount Greenwood is not being abandoned or picked on.
The fact that Oshea is married to Mike Sheahans neice should not in any way create the impression that this race is going to be different. In fact, the old rules are out, so much so that this election will be almost 100% apolitical.
HEY.you ginger and matt ppl forgot to say that matt walks on water, raises the dead and heals the blind, come on, this kid will be another marty walsh who got his irish colleen a boob job while she was banging a italian st, and san guy from bridgeport, but at least marty did get a lot of local kids on the cfd and the cpd when asked for help from the ward not like two chins ginger,MATT, DOINT FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM AND GET IRISH ALZHEIMERS.
I would like to ask a question. Why was Thomas Hynes at the meeting the other night. He is retired from politics and shouldnt be involved. Same with his son Dan who lives on the north side.
Come on. Why would he impose term limits? Alderman have no term limits. Just like our little mayor. Why bother asking stupid questions? It's more than likely gonna be Matt O'Shea. He seems like a good man. Why complain about it? Not a whole lot you can do about it anyway. This is Chicago.
The person that was talking about how bad Western Ave has become was right on the money. It's terrible out there. Take a walk on Western from 103rd to 111th st and count all the vacant store fronts. THERE'S A LOT!! It's like Halsted over in Englewood. But at least we have a JJ Fish! When is the 24 hour beauty salon/braids store gonna open up?? And can someone please run over that fool thats dancing on the corner of 103rd st waving the Little Caesars Pizza sign?!! Face it, people. It's becoming a mess out there.
mt greenwood and beverly have both gone down the toilet since ginger's been in office. crime on beat 2211 and the west ends of 2212 and 2213 have little or no police service. robberys, thefts, burlgarys are all up. we all pay alot of tax dollars for police presence and service. its irrelevent that black crime on the east end of 022 is up. we should not suffer loss of or lack of police service because a certain race of "people" dont know how to act. ginger has lied to me, our residents and everyone that our beat car from 2211 is never pulled over east. its over east constantly. the commander of 008 mandates that the garfield ridge and clearing beat cars are to stay on their beats (beat 811/812). why cant our commander or alderman do that? for those that live on 2211 2212 or 2213, look at a beat map and see our big your beat is compared to beats in black areas. for 20 years ginger let beverly and mt greenwood deteriorate and oshea will continue to do the same. vote for anne schaible!!!
OK Matt supporters, Where does Matt stand on privatizing of public owned items like the parking meters. Will he stand up to Daley and speak on our behalf or will he be another "Team Player"? What does he have to say on the current state of all the neighborhoods in the 19th ward? Businesses, schools, taxes, police presence, crime etc. Will Beverly be the only neighborhood that gets any attention? Will he change out some longtime positions in the 19th ward or is he just an extension of Ginger? So here is your opportunity, what is his plan?
As stated in a previous post local citizens have paid for improvements to schools and playgrounds. That alone in my book is grounds to tell this democratic org to go take a flying leep. Our taxes dollars are being used to build schools and playgrounds in the ghetto for people who don't pay a lick in taxes. Police Fire and Teachers may whine but just remeber this come election day you will not have our votes.
We need soneone with a kick ass attitude who knows their way around. A person who is not compromised in any way. A person who is loyal to the neighborhood above all else.
I feel that our choices are limited. I also think Dr. Schaible, while having many positive qualities, does not know her way around and thus would be largely ineffective.
I am not a cop or fireman or a teacher, but I just have to say listening to people put down their grievences, especially in the manner that you do (e.g. shut up and put out my fire), you sound just as ignorant and disrespectful as a resident of Englewood might be. You're entitled to your opinion, but please consider the reality of their jobs, especially cops and fireman, the disrespect they have to tolerate on a daily basis, the fact they get a little upset that their jobs don't deem more than a 2% raise. I was stunned myself and it has nothing to do with me. It just makes me sick when you see and hear the flagrant disrespect to the degree that one cop was shot in uniform, his uniform outside his home. So please, please put a little more thought into your criticism because I am fairly certain you have more class. If not, perhaps you should consider taking up residency in Englewood, at least there you will share the same political views of city workers with your neighbors.

Ok now wait a minute here, for one this is why I don’t like this new fangled internet stuff, things become lost in the translation and taken out of context. What I attempted to say about matt was; that he is a great Man and a great candidate for the Job and you see all of the support he has from the Organization and ALL of the local officials. I did not mean to infer that matt harbors Ill will towards the police and fire department nor the school teachers, in fact did you know that: 1. Matt loves the Police officers of this fine city and their families; he cares about them and their children and their futures. This is proven by matt being a leading organizer part of the Chicago Police Junkyard fundraiser every year; Matt donates his time and Also bartends for hours for no charge at these events to help raise funds. 2. Matt is a real fan and supporter of the Chicago Fire Department, this can be seen by; A- his great support of the Brother hood of the Barrel, matt walked the picket line with these guys when he was a youngster. B-Also Matt is the leading sponsor and organizer for many years now of the Bucks for Burn camp charity, matt was an intricate person in getting this organization set up. Again to help the Children. 3. Matt works with the alderman and supported the decision of the city to increase the class room size from 32 to 38 students, so that we would not have to lay off teachers to balance a budget. Matt is a big supporter of the teachers and wants to keep them working so the children can get a great education in our fine city.
For the smart @$$ that asks where Matt sits on the parking meters, Matt along with Alderman Rugai fully supports the deal for the meters, do you not understand that the city received: ONE Billion dollars for this lease, where would our city budget be right now, where would all you city workers be right now if we did not get that money in? Maybe you should think about that before you rip on hard working elected civil servants before you make uneducated comments on the facts you smart alleck!
JUST A THOUGHT ABOUT DO YOU FEEL THE EXCITMENT IN THE AIR, YES EVERYTIME I GO TO THE LIQUOR STORE AND A SHIT BUM NIGGER ASKS ME FOR A CIGARETE OR QUARTER AND THEN CALLS ME A MUDDA FUCKER WHEN I DONT RESPOND,AND WHEN I SEE WILLIE WALKING DOWN WHAT USED TO BE A WHITE HOOD AND MAKING FILTHY REMARKS TO WHITE GIRLS,ALL THESE MATT MUST RUN PPL ARE ONLY WORRIED ABOUT THEIR CLOUT AND SPOTS ON THE CPD AND CFD YOU KNOW IT AND SO DO I.
BOLD capital person is a racists, but this is an open forum to let folks write what they will.
I think any person who has the time, the money and effort and man power to run should do it. diversity of options may lead to a good elcted offical. I encouarge the everyday joe plummer type guy or tina the teacher type girl, to get involved and run for fairness. we do need change.
Anonymous said... yea Matt Oshea kicked the shit out of Joe Oswalds ass, while he was out ringing door bells for John Somervilles election, Ginger got involved, put the pressure on the 22nd district commander, issued marching orders to Harmening who went up to the 22nd district and they got Matt Oshea out of lock up. and then they pressured Joe oswald to drop the case. what was the story with that O'Shea guy beating up a camapign worker? does that bother anyone else? VOTE FOR ANNE SCHAIBLE
the same people that hate police and firemen are the same people that hate our military.remember this, freedom isn't free but the USMC will pay your share, son.now go walk gingers dogs, bitch.
Please clarify this point.Increasing class size does lay off teachers.
What about organizations like MGLR? Any changes in leadership there and/or other political positions? What is his position on getting more schools in the 19th ward? Can/will he say NO to Mayor Daley?
..........3. Maloney is a nice guy but he is first cousin with Tom Hynes and in true Hynes fashion, those people he surrounds himself with are incapable of making a decision without checking with him first.
Similar to OShea who is married into the Sheahan family and wont ever make a decision without calling mike sheahan first.
BLOG HOST, YOU BETTER GET A GRIP ON THIS RIGHT NOW! Man up and take charge here. Some pretty serious things have been said on this site, and you goddamn better start removing what doesn't belong here, like the previous post. The stuff said about John Somerville is actionable. Don't get yourself dragged in by not monitoring this closely. Be responsible and STOP allowing cowards to say what they want here. I hope that last post has been removed the next time I get on blog.
Take a really good look when you drive on Western ave. Look at how many stores are closed. What would O'Shea do about the blight? And that is what it is now. Since he is part of the same group that thinks its OK to tax the crap out of people during this recession. Will he go along with raising property taxes? Raising fees? Enlighten us you O'Shea supporters
There is a brand new TIF. It includes all the houses from 103 to 111 from western to kedzie. those are the people that are going to get wacked. Remember, the purpose of a tiff is to raise tax money. I suspect this may be why ginger is getting out.
This new TIF was Gingers idea. Approved by the City council. The money will be used to fix up Western ave. How do you think they are paying for the ff memorial.
actually i would like to see a northern irish protestant run for alderman and the reason is that most irish catholics have proven themselves to be self serving theives and jail bait. just look at who has gone to the joint the last 20 years all good catholcs, priest included. not a prot, in the bunch. so if you want honesty in govt. vote for a orangeman.
Time to move! I would rather have a short sale than pay more taxes for less services AGAIN. Matt, there is no way anyone will vote for you unless you stand up for the voters in the 19th ward. This new TIF tax for Beverly's benefit stinks. Repeal it.
I am afraid that a vote for Matt is a vote for more of the same. I just can't tell the difference between Ginger and Matt. Ginger has "endorsed" Matt and Matt has "graciously accepted" her endorsement. This was according to the Suntimes. Then he has her picture in that silly newspaper 19th ward quarterly, he put out all over yesterday. And if you look at that paper, there is a story about all the new streetlights and signage coming to 95 th street. It's all nice but the price tag is out of this word because the "funding" as he calls it is from the new TIF. That TIF is going to result in residential tax increases of over 10% during 2009 alone. Wait until these tax bills come out.
I just think that we need to go in a different direction. I think we need to give Anne a serious look.
Why don't we have a candidate forum/debate? Candidates, please present your plan for the 19th ward, priorities and things that need immediate attention. Also include your thoughts and plans for the whole of Chicago ie What would you not stand for? For? Thoughts on raising taxes and would you repeal the TIF on residents for Western Ave? Would you support a forensic audit of the City of Chicago finances? Voters can then post questions to you on this site. Are the candidates brave enough?
I think the Ag school should be renamed: Rugai Academy. That was one of her fine accomplishments getting the school pushed through for the ward, The Beverly art center was a great accomplishment of Rugai as well but the Ag school was the greatest.. Now Our Children in Mt. Greenwood have an excellent High school they attend and we have to give thanks where it is due. Thank you Alderman Rugai
Anonymous said... I can’t believe that Rugai is going to choose not to run as her way out. She should be stepping down 8 months before the race or just after the 2011 primary. You are telling me that the 19th ward voters with have the rare opportunity to choose the next alderman in a election? Say it ain’t so.
CIVIL WAR HAS BROKEN OUT! problem here is that there is a huge civil war going on, don’t let these posts from the 19th ward organization and the posts from Matt O’Shea and his wife on this blog fool you; there is a civil war taking pace my friends, the Joyce’s are falling apart, they are losing their power, Hynes hate the Joyce’s and vice versa, Joyce’s hate the Madigan’s, Sheehan’s hate the Hynes, they all Hate Dart, Rugai is pissed at Joyce’s so she is not stepping down early to give them the trump card, because the Joyce’s will stick it Matt and place someone else in as Alderman. But rather Rugai and Sheehan’s and friends feel Matt can hold his own in a election and take the Job away from the Joyce’s grip and build upon their already formidable base. Joyce’s tell every public official that they know upon winning an election that they “the Joyce’s” got them elected, funny they never discuss their MANY losses. My prediction Rugai and Matt O’Shea pull one close to the vest and score a win in the Aldermanic race of the 19th ward and build a new power base for the next few decades. Permanently placing the Joyce family on Hiatus in Florida
Beverly Art Center was the beneficiary when Rugai tricked the Southside Irish parade committee into signing over their entire treasury to the BEC. First she makes them kill the parade then she makes them give up their money. WTF. What a bunch of wimps. They gave up all their money without even a whimper.
Do you want to know who did all the dirty work? Look at the parade committee members that went on some public payroll shortly after the parade was killed. Those will be your culprits.
The Ag High School is not a great school where OUR children can go....many neighbors and residents of Mt. Greenwood MUST send their kids to Catholic school because they cannot get their kids into the AG! What a bunch of baloney!
maybe some action figures could take the place of alderman, superman would be nice, and a batman look alike sitting in ward hq would make ppl aware, and doint forget wonder woman and that hot little outfit she wears, i saw Darts old lady she would fill the bill to perfection.capt mrvel from yrs ago could tell ppl leave your name and # and we will get back to you ASAP,now capt, america well what can i say the name says it all with that kick ass red white and blue shield and lets not forget the shadow, he could sneak into polling places to find out whos voting organization, not to mention hasnging around the womans john checking on wonder woman. lets hear some more nominations here folks.
I propose a tribute to Rugai on the corner of 111th and Kedzie or how about we rename the Burger King in her honor "Buger Queen"...bet she wouldn't want to be "honored" in Mt. Greenwood! LOL
Ginger Rugai is not responsible for the Beverly Arts Center. That was State of Illinois funding. Sen. Emil Jones, when he was in office and Sen. Ed Maloney should be thanked for the funding for the BAC.
Enough said about the alderman's office. Say what you will about Rugai. I don't think anyone can question her good intentions for this neighborhood. She gave us 20 good years and always put us first. For that she needs to be thanked. Some type of public tribute will be fitting. We should name a school, street, park or even the BAC after her.
Also, to the recent poster, Ginger Rugai had everything to do with the BAC.
1. Someone with no ties to Rugai.
ReplyDelete2. For her, for the insiders, or for the people of the ward?
Matthew O'Shea
ReplyDeleteAny anti daly anti democrat candidate that u can find
ReplyDeleteGinger will always be known as the alderman of a ward where the cell phones didn't work that good.
ReplyDeleteJohn Somerville should run now.
ReplyDelete11 bil dollars that the city won't get from the parking meters, thanks bimbo!
ReplyDeleteGreatest accomplishment was how much earning power she was able to generate for her husband Aldo.
ReplyDeleteWhile Rugai was in office Western ave went from bad to worse. It is a total disgrace what she allowed to happen there. There was no logical reason for this to happen. Commercial blight in a neighborhood with a very high disposable income during the greatest real estate boom in American history? Come on people.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteGinger will always be remembered for her beautification of Western Avenue, revitalization of 95th Street, 111th st, rebuilt parks, new police station, new fire station, the new walgreens, CVS, rebuilt Metra stations, the new Ag school, new street lighting. And her greatest achievement was the construction of the Beverly Arts Center. Pretty hard to beat that record.
ReplyDeletethe new alderman will have some tough decisions to make.the city is broke and it will get worse, higher taxes or layoffs will be needed[start with cutting 25 aldermen].the city is short cops and the public pension system will be broke in 10 yrs or sooner.just for the record i am not a city worker, common sense says you can't cut first responders the city may have to privitize some of it's workforce or it will be forced to raise property taxes 10 fold!and wait until more non citizens come here.
ReplyDeleteThats a different sommerville. John Sommerville works for the county.
ReplyDeleteginger, balcer, come out to play!from your friends da feds:]
ReplyDeleteWhat are all these rumors about the feds?
ReplyDeletewho's gonna ring doorbells if they layoff everyone?
ReplyDeleteI think Mount Greenwood is starting to look pretty good. Thanks to Ginger.
ReplyDeleteWhat is going to happen to the Aldermanic staff members. I think they are great. Especially Mary Beth.
ReplyDeleteR we getting parking meters on all of the major streets? I think thats not right.
ReplyDeleteit just seems odd that all these aldermen are deciding to call it quits, maybe the feds are about to strike, just my 2 cents, remember this is chicago!
ReplyDeletena na na na na na na na hey hey goodbye!
ReplyDeleteDo you think she will move out of the neighborhood to Palos or Longbeach?
ReplyDeleteAt least she kept the darkies out of here.
ReplyDeleteHer retirement is the end of a great era for our neighborhood. I look forward to the Matt O'Shea era.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how does O'Shea feel about term limits. Rugai's 20 years in office was excessive.
ReplyDeleteWhy do some people want to change to 25 aldermen? I understand it would save money, but at what cost to our ward in particular. Do you realize that if there are half as many wards, we will be included with either part of the 18th ward to the north or the 21st ward to the east (which is even worse) or both? I don't want to be lumped in with a place that is TOTALLY ghetto (21st) or still changing, but for the worse (18th). Our communities in 19 are unique in this city.
ReplyDeleteWhy does The Capitalizer continue to incite others with his lies?
I agree with the above post. This is starting to get ugly. Would the blogger please clean this up?
ReplyDeleteThese are the rules that are posted by the blog host on the right side of the screen near the top:
ReplyDelete"The purpose of this blog is to serve as a forum to discuss problems facing our neighborhood.
If its gonna be Matt. I am okay with that. Lets give a chance.
ReplyDeleteHe is a much better improvement over Ginger. So, lets see what
will happen.
ginger was useless unless ur a close friend or family member or someone with clout that she helped get hired or promoted within cpd cfd etc. she ignored mt greenwood. i like matt oshea, but he has close ties to ginger, daley, kevin joyce and the rest of the democratic machine. if you want someone new and someone who cares about the entire 19th ward- VOTE FOR ANNE SCHAIBLE http://www.electanne.com
ReplyDeleteIT'S AWESOME THAT THE STREETLIGHTS ON 115TH ST FROM KEDZIE TO CENTRAL PARK HAVE BEEN OUT FOR AT LEAST 10 NIGHTS. IVE CALLED 311 EVERY DAY.
ReplyDeleteI NOMINATE RECENTLY RETIRED DETECTIVE NEIL MAAS, A WEST BEVERLY RESIDENT, TO TAKE THIS SPOT. THE 19TH WARD REGULAR DEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATION SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND HAVE GINGER RESIGN HER LAST FEW MONTHS AND HAVE NEIL TAKE THE SPOT.
ReplyDeleteHer retirement is the end of a great era for our neighborhood. I look forward to the Matt O'Shea era.
ReplyDeleteGet real buddy.
Greenwood.
ReplyDeleteGOOD RIDDANCE!! She needed to leave a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteWhen will some of he residents of Mount Greenwood get the chip off their shoulders? You haven't been slighted in the least. Stop whining about how forgotten and mistreated you are. We have the same problems throughout the ward with services. The budget cuts have caused lights to be out longer, special pick-ups to take longer, etc. everywhere in the city, and certainly everywhere in the ward. You're delusional if you think friends and family of people who work in or with the ward office get special treatment.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the next mugshot photo of O'Shea after he beats up another rival campaign worker this election cycle.
ReplyDeleteWho's Matt O'Shea?
ReplyDeleteI think he was the bartender at Reilly's Daughter and a janitor at the Ag School... Those qualifications are surely more impressive than M.D. Anne Schaible. Anyway, what kind of name is Schaible? I'm voting for the Irish guy.

19 August, 2010
Wait a minute! I live in the 19th Ward and I don't get Rugai's quarterly newspaper. What's up with that?
I NOMINATE RECENTLY RETIRED DETECTIVE NEIL MAAS, A WEST BEVERLY RESIDENT, TO TAKE THIS SPOT. THE 19TH WARD REGULAR DEMOCRATIC ORGANIZATION SHOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND HAVE GINGER RESIGN HER LAST FEW MONTHS AND HAVE NEIL TAKE THE SPOT.
ReplyDeleteExcept that sanity is still a prerequisite.
yea Matt Oshea kicked the shit out of Joe Oswalds ass, while he was out ringing door bells for John Somervilles election, Ginger got involved, put the pressure on the 22nd district commander, issued marching orders to Harmening who went up to the 22nd district and they got Matt Oshea out of lock up. and then they pressured Joe oswald to drop the case.
ReplyDeleteALL FACT, check it out. ask the dozens of folks, civilians, police officers who had first hand knowledge and were involved.
so yea another shit bag replaces yet another.
VOTE FOR ANNE SCHAIBLE
I think the N word has to go. Look what happened to Dr Laura.
ReplyDeleteBill Brogan for Alderman of the 19th Ward! He's the smartest and best looking cop around. Just ask him.
ReplyDeleteVOTE FOR PEDRO
ReplyDeleteMatt O'Shea is a decent guy and I believe he cares about the Ward. I just think it's unfortunate that most likely, he will walk into this office without any real debate or challenge from a credible candidate. Dr. Schiable may be a fine person as well but she is not a viable candiate.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with several of the posts above about keeping comments civil and honest. The intent here is to have quality discussion. Name calling and slader serve no purpose.
I second Brogan!!!!!!!You tool
ReplyDeleteTo the poster(tool) about precinct captains.
ReplyDeleteThe ward has spoken, sir Matt Oshea will be crowned the new king of the fifedom.
ReplyDeleteThe 19th ward has picked the alderperson. All others stand aside.
ReplyDeleteI estimate that over 60% of the precinct captains dont live in the ward. They used to live here but now they live in Orland and Tinley Park with one of them living in a mansion in Hinsdale.
ReplyDeleteRemember the Ag School election!
ReplyDeleteWe can do it again!
Can you feel the excitement in the air?
ReplyDeleteWhat exciting times for change we now have, we are so pumped up and excited, our ward will soon have a new torch bearer, Mathew O’shea!
Allow me to second that notion and further speak to Matt’s accomplishments:
Matt is a good young Irish Catholic man, a father, a husband and a friend to many, he has sacrificed his own time and efforts supporting: little league, and softball teams, many youth activities at the park districts, volley ball, football, wrestling, field Hockey and track meets, boy scouts, girl scouts, and bowling.
ReplyDeleteLMAO STRANGE THINGS WITH BARNYARD ANIMALS, PRICELESS/ BRAVO
ReplyDeleteMATT O'SHEA is the recognized candidate of the Democratic 19th ward Orginization, all others should not attempt to usurp this action.
ReplyDeleteOur party organization, committemen, precinct captains all took place in an open meeting and selected Matt O'Shea, the 19th wars organization has fairly selected Matt and he is our candidate and all party Democrats should recognize this and support Matt O'Shea for Alderman of the 19th ward.
ReplyDeleteMatt was selected by us, those captains that are part of the real 19th ward organization in an open and fair selection process by the ward organization and Matt O'Shea is slated to be our candidate for alderman. Please do not believe any of the lies being circulated by the sour grape police, fire, teachers whom seem to be on here constantly ripping the organization, if you read these blogs you can see two things which are appearent:
1- they lie,
2- they are obviously racists.
". . . Matt will single handedly reverse the crime, carry on and improve upon the commercial developments, reverse those still few commercial blights and improve our wards school testing results for our children and he will do this within a few short year or two. . ."
ReplyDeleteGinger had 20 years to accomplish these things and she failed.
ReplyDeleteMike Moran for alderman.
ReplyDeletethis is for the asshole that said police and firefighters are crybabies, you are a scumbag, this city has lost 4 first responders in the last 3 months.if you had any balls you would have went to the recent wake for the firefighter that died and told his brothers they are cybabies.i am not a first responder just a USMC VET who respects what they do,now go get ginger a cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteREALLY?
ReplyDeleteMy brother is a fire fighter my sister a police officer, i work the private sector, but lets not kid ourselves here the 19th ward Democratic Organization could give two shits about the police or fire fighters.
they have got a lot of balls, i will say, they think they can dictate to us who we will have for Alderman???? screw them.
these blogers are pathetic,
ReplyDeleteI predict challengers smashed like dog shit once again....the 19th ward will win again and they the cry babies will lose AGAIN because they think they actually make a difference, you cannot beat the machine PERIOD wake up droids, do as your told, fight our fires patrol our streets, teach our kids and be thankful you have a job and shut the hell up, we are tired of hearing from you, except on election day of course.
GO 19th ORG!!!!!
I hate cry babies
ReplyDeleteYea we drink tea, you losers hang out in MGP and play softball and drink beer all night, then the next day still drunk you climb on your fire trucks and into your patroll cars and drive around with your sirens & flashing lights.
ReplyDeleteUs college folks have a bit higher standards and earning potential ya DIG?
now as you stated go me a cup of tea son.
ReplyDeleteMatt O’ Shea?
ReplyDeleteRun John, Run John, Run John, Run John,
ReplyDeleteThe fact that Oshea is married to Mike Sheahans neice should not in any way create the impression that this race is going to be different. In fact, the old rules are out, so much so that this election will be almost 100% apolitical.
ReplyDeleteHEY.you ginger and matt ppl forgot to say that matt walks on water, raises the dead and heals the blind, come on, this kid will be another marty walsh who got his irish colleen a boob job while she was banging a italian st, and san guy from bridgeport, but at least marty did get a lot of local kids on the cfd and the cpd when asked for help from the ward not like two chins ginger,MATT, DOINT FORGET WHERE YOU CAME FROM AND GET IRISH ALZHEIMERS.
ReplyDeleteI think the first thing Ald. O"Shea should do is put the police and fire in their place. It's kind of obvious that they have a problem again.
ReplyDeleteMt Greenwood and Beverly residents better stop this silly bickering and realize they better stick together. Times they are a-changin.
ReplyDeleteI would like to ask a question. Why was Thomas Hynes at the meeting the other night. He is retired from politics and shouldnt be involved. Same with his son Dan who lives on the north side.
ReplyDeleteHey Matt, Are you going to serve 20 or 30 years or will you impose some type of term limits?
ReplyDeleteCome on. Why would he impose term limits? Alderman have no term limits. Just like our little mayor. Why bother asking stupid questions? It's more than likely gonna be Matt O'Shea. He seems like a good man. Why complain about it? Not a whole lot you can do about it anyway. This is Chicago.
ReplyDeleteThe person that was talking about how bad Western Ave has become was right on the money.
ReplyDeletemt greenwood and beverly have both gone down the toilet since ginger's been in office. crime on beat 2211 and the west ends of 2212 and 2213 have little or no police service. robberys, thefts, burlgarys are all up. we all pay alot of tax dollars for police presence and service. its irrelevent that black crime on the east end of 022 is up. we should not suffer loss of or lack of police service because a certain race of "people" dont know how to act. ginger has lied to me, our residents and everyone that our beat car from 2211 is never pulled over east. its over east constantly. the commander of 008 mandates that the garfield ridge and clearing beat cars are to stay on their beats (beat 811/812). why cant our commander or alderman do that? for those that live on 2211 2212 or 2213, look at a beat map and see our big your beat is compared to beats in black areas. for 20 years ginger let beverly and mt greenwood deteriorate and oshea will continue to do the same. vote for anne schaible!!!
ReplyDeleteDr. Anne Schaible will be in over her head. We need someone who knows their way around and yet is not beholden to the powers. A true independent.
ReplyDeleteOK Matt supporters, Where does Matt stand on privatizing of public owned items like the parking meters.
ReplyDeleteWe need someone from BAPA to run. Don't u think it's time.
ReplyDeleteAs stated in a previous post local citizens have paid for improvements to schools and playgrounds. That alone in my book is grounds to tell this democratic org to go take a flying leep. Our taxes dollars are being used to build schools and playgrounds in the ghetto for people who don't pay a lick in taxes. Police Fire and Teachers may whine but just remeber this come election day you will not have our votes.
ReplyDeleteWe need soneone with a kick ass attitude who knows their way around. A person who is not compromised in any way. A person who is loyal to the neighborhood above all else.
ReplyDeleteI feel that our choices are limited. I also think Dr. Schaible, while having many positive qualities, does not know her way around and thus would be largely ineffective.
I want someone who is going to stand up to Daley on the city council floor and ask him why our beat car is missing every night.
ReplyDeleteI am not a cop or fireman or a teacher, but I just have to say listening to people put down their grievences, especially in the manner that you do (e.g. shut up and put out my fire), you sound just as ignorant and disrespectful as a resident of Englewood might be.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteMatt is a nice guy, but my own good conscious will not let me vote for a Democrat. Do you think he would consider running as a Republican?
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a kid, I respected the police. Still do.
ReplyDeleteWhat does Larry Rogers and his unethical behavior have to do with the aldermanic election in the 19th ward?
ReplyDeleteJohn Burge.

ReplyDeleteCan you feel the excitement in the air?.....
I did not mean to infer that matt harbors Ill will towards the police and fire department nor the school teachers, in fact did you know that:
Who is writing this stuff.
ReplyDeleteJUST A THOUGHT ABOUT DO YOU FEEL THE EXCITMENT IN THE AIR, YES EVERYTIME I GO TO THE LIQUOR STORE AND A SHIT BUM NIGGER ASKS ME FOR A CIGARETE OR QUARTER AND THEN CALLS ME A MUDDA FUCKER WHEN I DONT RESPOND,AND WHEN I SEE WILLIE WALKING DOWN WHAT USED TO BE A WHITE HOOD AND MAKING FILTHY REMARKS TO WHITE GIRLS,ALL THESE MATT MUST RUN PPL ARE ONLY WORRIED ABOUT THEIR CLOUT AND SPOTS ON THE CPD AND CFD YOU KNOW IT AND SO DO I.
ReplyDeleteBOLD capital person is a racists, but this is an open forum to let folks write what they will.
ReplyDeleteI think any person who has the time, the money and effort and man power to run should do it. diversity of options may lead to a good elcted offical.
I encouarge the everyday joe plummer type guy or tina the teacher type girl, to get involved and run for fairness.
we do need change.

VOTE FOR ANNE SCHAIBLE
what was the story with that O'Shea guy beating up a camapign worker? does that bother anyone else?
VOTE FOR ANNE SCHAIBLE
It doesnt bother me at all. It demonstrats that he is a kick ass dude.
ReplyDeleteAnne Schaible may be a very nice lady but sahe wont be able to kick ass. That will be a problem.
ReplyDeleteHow about Ed Maloney for Alderman. He seems like a nice guy.
ReplyDeletethe same people that hate police and firemen are the same people that hate our military.remember this, freedom isn't free but the USMC will pay your share, son.now go walk gingers dogs, bitch.
ReplyDeleteparking meters=11 bil in lost $$$ for future taxpayers.this will be the legacy of those that voted for it.
ReplyDeletemaybe Joe Oswald should run for alderman?
ReplyDeletePlease clarify this point.Increasing class size does lay off teachers.
ReplyDeleteWhat about organizations like MGLR? Any changes in leadership there and/or other political positions? What is his position on getting more schools in the 19th ward? Can/will he say NO to Mayor Daley?
..........3. Matt works with the alderman and supported the decision of the city to increase the class room size from 32 to 38 students, so that we would not have to lay off teachers to balance a budget. Matt is a big supporter of the teachers and wants to keep them working so the children can get a great education in our fine city.
Maloney is a nice guy but he is first cousin with Tom Hynes and in true Hynes fashion, those people he surrounds himself with are incapable of making a decision without checking with him first.
ReplyDeleteSimilar to OShea who is married into the Sheahan family and wont ever make a decision without calling mike sheahan first.
I don't think we need that anymore.
This blog is about issues affecting the 19th ward. Lets not stray. Also, lets watch it on the insults.

ReplyDeleteBLOG HOST, YOU BETTER GET A GRIP ON THIS RIGHT NOW!
ReplyDeleteTake a really good look when you drive on Western ave. Look at how many stores are closed. What would O'Shea do about the blight? And that is what it is now. Since he is part of the same group that thinks its OK to tax the crap out of people during this recession. Will he go along with raising property taxes? Raising fees? Enlighten us you O'Shea supporters
ReplyDeleteBlog host, thank you for removing the offensive comment.
ReplyDelete2009 was the first year that the Beverly-Mt Greenwood TIF was in place. It will be interesting what shows up on the 2009 tax bills later this year.
ReplyDeleteTIF has been around alot longer than that in Bev and MTG.

ReplyDeleteOff Topic:
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if the blog owner for Mt Greenwood Protection is OK? He hasn't posted for quite some time.
Good question. I was wondering what was going on with that site also. Maybe he became discouraged after seeing so much ugliness here.

ReplyDeleteThere is a brand new TIF. It includes all the houses from 103 to 111 from western to kedzie. those are the people that are going to get wacked. Remember, the purpose of a tiff is to raise tax money. I suspect this may be why ginger is getting out.
ReplyDeleteDid homeowners get a say in this? Who OK'd this?
ReplyDeleteI would also nominate Neil Maas for alderman..In the line from the movie Casino.."he's a solid Marine"
ReplyDeleteEd on Monday Nights
This new TIF was Gingers idea. Approved by the City council. The money will be used to fix up Western ave. How do you think they are paying for the ff memorial.
ReplyDeleteactually i would like to see a northern irish protestant run for alderman and the reason is that most irish catholics have proven themselves to be self serving theives and jail bait. just look at who has gone to the joint the last 20 years all good catholcs, priest included. not a prot, in the bunch. so if you want honesty in govt. vote for a orangeman.
ReplyDeleteI think Matt OShea is an orangeman.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how orangeman oshea feels about the taxbills that are going to be hitting the homeowners. gd tifs. all they are is massive tax increases.
ReplyDeleteall those TAX INCREASES are going to pay for his TIF improvements.
ReplyDeleteblogger is right. get rid of the papists and put a ian paisley tell it like it is canidate up. this coming from a beverly catholic pending.
ReplyDeleteTime to move! I would rather have a short sale than pay more taxes for less services AGAIN. Matt, there is no way anyone will vote for you unless you stand up for the voters in the 19th ward. This new TIF tax for Beverly's benefit stinks. Repeal it.
ReplyDeleteI am afraid that a vote for Matt is a vote for more of the same.
ReplyDeleteI just think that we need to go in a different direction. I think we need to give Anne a serious look.
If things were truly going to be different O'Shea would reject Rugai's endorsement and repudiate her programs.
ReplyDeleteI never heard of that newspaper until I got it. Its just a political rag. I,m insulted by it.
ReplyDeleteThe paper is a good idea. It puts a positive spin on everything. Must you be so negative?
ReplyDeleteWe need to acknowledge Ginger's greatest accomplishment, the Beverly Arts Center. I propose that the building be renamed after her.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't we have a candidate forum/debate? Candidates, please present your plan for the 19th ward, priorities and things that need immediate attention. Also include your thoughts and plans for the whole of Chicago ie What would you not stand for? For? Thoughts on raising taxes and would you repeal the TIF on residents for Western Ave? Would you support a forensic audit of the City of Chicago finances? Voters can then post questions to you on this site. Are the candidates brave enough?
ReplyDeleteForensic Audit? What a brilliant idea. I can see Daley dismissing that as just a waste of money.
ReplyDeleteWho paid for that O"shea newspaper?

Where do you get this newspaper? If it's delivered to the homes in the area, why don't I get it in Mt. Greenwood?
I think the Ag school should be renamed: Rugai Academy.
ReplyDeleteThat was one of her fine accomplishments getting the school pushed through for the ward, The Beverly art center was a great accomplishment of Rugai as well but the Ag school was the greatest..
Now Our Children in Mt. Greenwood have an excellent High school they attend and we have to give thanks where it is due.
Thank you Alderman Rugai

22 August, 2010,
Matt O'Shea is not an Orangeman....he is a Tinker!
The newspaper was partially paid for with funds from the new TIF. Its a permissible use. In other words, all of you readers paid for it.
ReplyDeleteJust rename the street she lives on as "Rugai" Street and be done with it.
ReplyDeleteThe Ag School an excellent high school?
ReplyDeleteTake a look at the Ag School at dismissal time. Then drive by Marist and compare the two.

ReplyDeleteI can’t believe that Rugai is going to choose not to run as her way out. She should be stepping down 8 months before the race or just after the 2011 primary. This was Jerry Joyce, 19th ward committeeman since 1975 can appoint the next person to the throne. You are telling me that the 19th ward voters with have the rare opportunity to choose the next alderman in a election? Say it ain’t so.
CIVIL WAR HAS BROKEN OUT!
problem here is that there is a huge civil war going on, don’t let these posts from the 19th ward organization and the posts from Matt O’Shea and his wife on this blog fool you;
there is a civil war taking pace my friends, the Joyce’s are falling apart, they are losing their power, Hynes hate the Joyce’s and vice versa, Joyce’s hate the Madigan’s, Sheehan’s hate the Hynes, they all Hate Dart, Rugai is pissed at Joyce’s so she is not stepping down early to give them the trump card, because the Joyce’s will stick it Matt and place someone else in as Alderman.
Permanently placing the Joyce family on Hiatus in Florida
communism may be good for the ward, give it a thought.
ReplyDeleteBeverly Art Center was the beneficiary when Rugai tricked the Southside Irish parade committee into signing over their entire treasury to the BEC. First she makes them kill the parade then she makes them give up their money. WTF. What a bunch of wimps. They gave up all their money without even a whimper.
ReplyDeleteDo you want to know who did all the dirty work? Look at the parade committee members that went on some public payroll shortly after the parade was killed. Those will be your culprits.
NOTE TO THAT POSTER, THERE IS NO PROBLEM BETWEEN EVERYONE. EVERYONE IS STANDING FIRMLY BEHIND MATT.
ReplyDeleteWho says that its ok to use tiff money to print a political newspaper???????????????????????
ReplyDeleteI am proposing that Western Avenue between 79 and 119 street be renamed Virginia Rugai Way.
ReplyDeleteThere can be no other more fitting tribute for this great lady.
Agreed
DeleteI signed a petition for O'Shea on Saturday at Calabria.
ReplyDeleteI thought you couldn't circulate petitions before 8-24-2010?
ReplyDeleteEd on Monday nights
The Ag High School is not a great school where OUR children can go....many neighbors and residents of Mt. Greenwood MUST send their kids to Catholic school because they cannot get their kids into the AG! What a bunch of baloney!
ReplyDeleteGingers greatest accomplishment as Alderman is her stepping down! Only took 20 years!
ReplyDeletefuck the AG school,i'd rather pay and send my kid to a private school.
ReplyDeleteWhat do u mean? They were collecting signatures on Saturday at County Fair too. My wife signed too. we need Matt oShea now more than ever.
ReplyDeleteI just want to say the parade committee was not tricked by anyone. We wanted to support BAC.
ReplyDeletemaybe some action figures could take the place of alderman, superman would be nice, and a batman look alike sitting in ward hq would make ppl aware, and doint forget wonder woman and that hot little outfit she wears, i saw Darts old lady she would fill the bill to perfection.capt mrvel from yrs ago could tell ppl leave your name and # and we will get back to you ASAP,now capt, america well what can i say the name says it all with that kick ass red white and blue shield and lets not forget the shadow, he could sneak into polling places to find out whos voting organization, not to mention hasnging around the womans john checking on wonder woman. lets hear some more nominations here folks.
ReplyDeletesure ya did!
ReplyDeleteGee, are you the comic book guy?
ReplyDeleteI propose a tribute to Rugai on the corner of 111th and Kedzie or how about we rename the Burger King in her honor "Buger Queen"...bet she wouldn't want to be "honored" in Mt. Greenwood! LOL
ReplyDeleteGinger Rugai is not responsible for the Beverly Arts Center. That was State of Illinois funding. Sen. Emil Jones, when he was in office and Sen. Ed Maloney should be thanked for the funding for the BAC.
ReplyDeletehey. i like the idea with the comic book people.
ReplyDeleteEnough said about the alderman's office. Say what you will about Rugai. I don't think anyone can question her good intentions for this neighborhood. She gave us 20 good years and always put us first. For that she needs to be thanked. Some type of public tribute will be fitting. We should name a school, street, park or even the BAC after her.
ReplyDeleteAlso, to the recent poster, Ginger Rugai had everything to do with the BAC.
I am going on a little fishing trip for a few days. While I'm gone, comments will be shut down.
ReplyDeleteWhats she doing these days?
ReplyDeleteHow will you avoid crashing your ambitions of freedom and financial success?
