Stop The Pinging is what I was told it stood for by an old man years ago....from what he said, a salesman for STP stopped by a repair shop he was at. The salesman told them he would add a bottle of STP to his engine, run it, then drain it, then drive around town. He did then came back with no oil in the engine. I wasn't there but that is what I was told.
