EXCLUSIVE, updated with Baldwin lawyer statement: Less than two weeks before a mini-trial is scheduled to begin in New Mexico over the October 2021 killing of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, all charges are going to be dropped against Alec Baldwin, for now.

Recently appointed special prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis are expected to file paperwork soon, perhaps even today, to dismiss the involuntary manslaughter claims against the multi-Emmy-winning actor without prejudice, we hear. That means, as they are set to investigate further into what actually went down that terrible day on the Bonanza Creek Ranch set near Santa Fe, this case could be resurrected in the future.

  1. No.
The Prop Tart who had live rounds unmarked, mixed amongst dummy rounds, and scattered all over the set is accountable.
She's going to get maxxed, if the NM authorities have any sense at all.
    (Which remains an open question.)
Dave Halls, the 1st AD who never should have had anything to do with checking (nor even touching) the prop weapons and loading of same, as the mandated and designated safety witness for Prop Tart on the low-budget p.o.s. show, would also have been held to account, but the idiot D.A. who mis-charged Baldwin already let Halls off the hook with a wrist slap and no-prison probation.

If you want to make a case for prosecuting the people who didn't do it, instead of the ones actually legally, professionally, and in every other way responsible, go for it.

Baldwin's voice and opinions on gun control are forever tainted, and probably silenced. Better late than never. After shooting his mouth off for years on a topic about which he's wholly unqualified, take the karma win, and let it go.

There were two people whose express job was to mandatorily supervise and handle all prop weapons on that set. One of them has already pled to unconditionally failing to perform that duty. That made it impossible to charge Baldwin with doing something it wasn't his job to do, when the person whose job it was had already testified under oath he had failed to perform due diligence.

Not being blinded with visions of making their bones on Baldwin's non-negligence, the assistant D.A. who got handed the case after the original witch hunters bailed out, admitted what everyone in Hollywood knew from the day after the shooting: The weapon handler and their assistant are always the first, last, and only people responsible for prop weapons and ammunition loading and handling on set, 24/7/365/forever.

When you drop charges against people who didn't do anything, and prosecute the one who did, that's usually known as justice.
The assistant D.A. left holding this bag o' crap case decided not to set her reputation and legal career on fire trying to prove a case that was lost the moment they filed charges against Baldwin.

Simple gun safety would have prevented this tradgedy. Baldwin is an elitist tool.
