Japanese Street Gang Shoots 14 people on the West Side

 


At least 14 people were shot in a drive-by shooting on Chicago's West Side Monday night.

The shooting occurred at the intersection of Polk and California around 9:30 p.m.

According to Chicago Police Supt. David Brown, the shooting was caught on video, and it appears one vehicle drove by and possibly two gunmen opened fire on a crowd of people.

The youngest victim is a three-year-old child. An 11-year-old and a 13-year-old were also shot.

The other 11 victims are adults.

The victims' conditions range from good condition to critical condition.

Most of the victims were transported to Stroger Hospital, however, some were also transported to Mount Sinai and Northwestern hospitals.

Additionally, Brown said one person was also struck by a vehicle at the scene.

At this time, the offenders and motive are unknown.

Brown said there was a vigil and balloon release taking place at the time of the shooting.
