I was there in Belfast and Derry in 2007. When I was there there is an eerie tension with everybody up there. You have to be careful what you say up there. When I walked through the Falls Road Area (Catholic) they wanted to know who we were.
When you hear the history of what the English did to the Irish, it makes your blood boil.
My experience with the local black community when I would politely add the story of Irish Catholic bigotry and repression both in Ireland and in America by "white" people....I usually got almost zero reaction. Zero interest on their part to hear about any other group that had suffered oppression. It did not compute with their version of history as told by radical activists, clergy etc....Why doesnt our insane left wing radical school system force everyone to hear about the oppression of the Irish? Answer is because they really do not care at all.

ReplyDeleteSome one else who knows the horrible things the English did to the Irish for 700 years. The English also were the ones who wanted slavery.
