Police are looking for a man who assaulted a female cashier and set a Loop convenience store on fire with a Molotov cocktail over the weekend, according to police and a source.
The store clerk and another victim were taken to
a hospital for smoke inhalation and the 7-Eleven store at 29 East Madison is a total loss. Here are some images from the scene:Officer Ana Pacheco said a man entered the store and verbally assaulted the 41-year-old woman who was working there around 5:50 a.m. Saturday. The woman retreated to a bathroom and locked the door.
While she was inside, the offender lit an incendiary device and set the store ablaze, according to the source who said a Molotov cocktail was used. Pacheco confirmed that the man set the store on fire, but she did not say how he did it.
Two victims, the clerk and an unidentified person, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital after suffering smoke inhalations, a CPD report said. Both victims were listed in good condition, Pacheco said.
The Chicago Fire Department and Area Three detectives are investigating the crime.
He just wanted reparations. You know. Free shit. It's owed to him. He'll only do it a few more times then he'll stop and be a productive member of society. You'll see.
