The Chicago Teachers Union said Sunday that many of its members who are expected back to school Monday will defy Chicago Public Schools plans and only teach remotely, as a majority of Chicago aldermen said in a letter to the mayor they are “deeply concerned” with the city’s reopening plans.
The moves mark an escalation of the months-long campaign by the CTU for a safe
reopening and further complicates plans of Mayor Lori Lightfoot and schools chief Janice Jackson to start bringing back thousands of teachers and students.Thirty-three aldermen wrote a letter to Lightfoot and Jackson to say they are “deeply concerned” with CPS’ scheduled reopening this month, expressing doubt in the racial equity and health and safety aspects of the city’s plan. They laid out nine steps the city should take as it looks to reopen classrooms and urged the mayor and school district to collaborate with the teachers union over its concerns.
Just look at what the Catholic school system is doing. Get back to work.
ReplyDeleteA chance to show real leadership? lmfao She will cave cause she is a failure and CTU knows it. Hahaha
ReplyDeleteCould someone explain why a teachers job, where you see the same kids everyday is more dangerous than the grocery cashier who sees how many unknown people a day at a much closer interaction. Time to get back to work or get fired.
ReplyDeletePay 2.5% towards their pension, off for nine months at full salary, walk off the job after the mayor caves on their contract demands...screw these parasites.
ReplyDeleteLittle Larry Leftfoot is way in over his head. Larry is an Ass Clown who has lost control of every aspect/part of the city.
ReplyDeleteLittle Larry is one of the top 5 worse Mayors in the country.
There is a learning curve on that job. I say give her another chance and lets see how she handles it.
