Protesters outside St. Patrick's Cathedral confront NYPD cops and bang on the hood of the cars in Manhattan today.

About 150 protesters blocked traffic in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral early on New Year’s Day — and someone marred the facade of the church with graffiti during the demonstration,

according to cops.

Police responded to a disorderly group of protesters at 51st Street and Fifth Avenue around 1:30 a.m., cops said.

Video posted to Twitter by freelance reporter Oliya Scootercaster shows the group standing in front of police cars — which had their lights and sirens on — blocking their way. Some protesters pounded on the hoods of the cruisers.

The protesters, affiliated with Black Lives Matter Brooklyn and Justice for George, started marching at the Stonewall Inn and had stopped at St. Patrick’s Cathedral, police sources said.

While inspecting the scene, cops found the letters “ACAB” — which stands for “All cops are bastards” — newly graffitied in pink, about 2 feet by 4 feet, on the facade of the cathedral, police said.

The crowd ultimately dispersed and no one was arrested on scene, authorities said.

"No one was arrested on the scene". Wish I could express in words the anger that seethes when I read stories like this, when property is defaced or destroyed and nothing happens to those responsible. At some point the line between 1st amendment rights and criminal acts, not "civil disobedience" is going to be drawn and groups like the Proud Boys will deal with these punks. I've tempered my remarks.

I am not going to be critical of 19th ward politicians. They tend to do the best job they can with very limited resources, and don't need to be beaten up. In fact, people should be helping them as they are among the last "normal" leaders in Illinois.

I am keeping the 19th Ward Chicago name because of the rich blog history going back to 2010 and because there is a ready-made base of similar-thinking readers. For now on, the 19th Ward of Chicago will be mainly a point of reference, an observation deck if you will. A place where allot of good-natured, normal-thinking people still live and can safely view the dysfunction overtaking America. Write whatever you want about whatever or whomever you want. Just keep it true and not vulgar.

At all times, we am going to comply with Blogspot's community standards. We have seen what happens when there is not such compliance.

We will never publish threats of physical violence or baseless attacks on people or institutions.
