At least 15 people shot in Gresham, fire dept. officials report

The shooting happened in the 1000 block of West 79th Street, Chicago police spokesman Tom Ahern said about 7 p.m.

Chicago police investigate the scene where multiple people were shot July 21, 2020, in the 1000 block of West 79th Street. Tyler LaRiviere/Sun-TimesAt least 11 people were shot Tuesday in Gresham on the South Side, according to fire officials.

The shooting happened in the 1000 block of West 79th Street, Chicago police spokesman Tom Ahern
said on Twitter about 7 p.m. Rhodes Funeral Services is located on that block.

Nine people were taken from the scene of the shooting with gunshot wounds, Chicago Fire Department officials said. Two other people who were shot drove themselves to a hospital.

They were listed in serious-to-critical condition, fire officials said.

Further information was not immediately available.

    Funerals and those stupid memorials on the anniversaries of killings are becoming quite the hot spots for shootings.Pretty soon they’ll be begging for police protection at those functions too

    Geez, remember when they used to have those great St. Patrick's Day parades down 79th Street? Anybody see Phleger on the scene, tending to his flock? Nah, didn't think so.

    Hmmmmm, isn't there a directive form Mayor Lightfoot and Gov. Pritzker that no more than 10 people at a funeral???? Some folks don't follow the rules.

    ATTENTION POLICE OFFICERS!!!!! The Mayor HATES you. The black community HATES you. Don’t do anything for them. Let them kill each other. Do not risk getting jailed, sued or fired by attempting to arrest anyone for these crimes.
