Who's in charge?

From Second City Copper

it's very important that he start making the decisions

Pritzker Says What Now?

An interesting admission at Fatass's press conference yesterday:
  • Per jb at his daily re-education briefing today, he is not the one making decisions regarding Illinois's economic shut down during the virus crisis. He said it's the doctors and epidemiologists making that decision. I didn't think that was how it was supposed to work.
It's not how any of this is supposed to work. The voters didn't elect bureaucrats to run Illinois - they elected politicians. And if the politicians are surrendering their power to un-elected bureaucrats, then we have a problem. A very big problem actually. Who is actually running the show if the elected have surrendered the decision-making powers granted to them by the consent of the governed?

We would opine that what exists at the moment is a quasi-legal state of anarchy - no one is at the wheel of a state careening out of control - and ripe for a charasmatic Strongman to take over. Anyone seen Blago lately? He might have a chance.
