Pritzker says governors, not Trump, will decide when to reopen their states
On a day when Democratic governors on the East and West coasts formed regional alliances to decide together how and when to re-open their states, President Donald Trump declared he has, "ultimate authority" to overrule them.

CHICAGO - On a day when Democratic governors on the East and West coasts formed regional alliances to decide together how and when to re-open their states, President Donald Trump declared he has, "ultimate authority" to overrule them.

“The federal government has absolute power. It has the power. As to whether or not I’ll use that
power, we'll see,” Trump said. “The authority of the President of the United States on the subject we're talking about is total.”

Earlier in the day, President Trump posted two tweets to the same effect, prompting Governor JB Pritzker to assert that he will decide when it's safe to cancel his order shutting down schools and non-essential businesses.

Governor Pritzker seemed to suggest Illinois won't be re-opening quickly, since it's likely to be many weeks before sufficient amounts of personal protective equipment and reliable testing are widely available to the general public.

President Trump said in the next few days he plans to name specific states that should begin re-opening their economies.

Typical democratic bullshit. Federalism vs State's Rights democrats. Isn't that one of the issues that started the Civil War?

  3. Actually in this case Trump is wrong, the States have that power not him, However in Jabba the Hutt's case, he's merely a copycat, I think the only original thought he ever has is perhaps what he's going to shove down his gullet that day. Now as far as re-opening goes, I think there are many areas that we should considering having soft re-openings of

Those entrances he makes to his press conferences wearing the mask crack me up. I'm wondering if he has his masks made with extra pleats to cover all his chins. And then if he did that dance routine Jackie Gleason used to do that ends with "and away we go", it would be hysterical.

Trump is not wrong if that were the case then the south would still have segregated schools.

For many reasons, segregated schools still exist. 😬

Time to cut all federal aid to so called sanctuary states and teach this A-hole a lesson.

Even before this pandemic threw our everyday lives into chaos, I cannot think of ONE thing this pandering piece of lard has done for the state. Whatever his perception of backbone or strength is missing the target. All this stuff about transparency and fighting for the citizens of Illinois are just the pleadings of an overweight, insecure man, who never endured hardships with the exception of fat shaming. His democratic ideals of being able to throw money at every challenge or problem fail to resolve long term problems. He can crow about feeding underprivileged pre-schoolers breakfasts before school, but his claims of being an innovative "incubator" that will bring prosperity to Illinois is just more BS from JB. I didn't like Rauner, but this guy isn't going to do a thing to bring Illinois into line with neighboring states like Indiana and Iowa. Like Rauner and Lightfoot, I call this guy one and done.

JB and rest of dems could not be happier about pandemic. Watch for them to blame the states financial mess,Chicago violence and loss of jobs to other states on pandemic. Instead of criticizing President he should be figuring out what Illinois, Cook County and City of Chicago did with federal money doled out since 911 for disaster preparedness. Illinois soon to be first state with negative credit rating. Try and blame that on Trump.
