For the record

Rumors and stories abound. In an effort to set the story straight, below is the Wikipedia version of the facts:

On June 20, 2010, his 27-year-old son, David Brown Jr., who suffered from bipolar disorder, according to media reports and had only a minor prior record involving a marijuana arrest, shot and killed 23-year-old Jeremy McMillian and 37-year-old Lancaster, Texas police officer Craig Shaw. Brown was fatally shot more than a dozen times in the ensuing shootout with officers responding to the scene. The Dallas County medical examiner's autopsy reported the presence of PCP in Brown's bloodstream.

Bet that this incident has been investigated by everyone. The story is sad beyond comprehension. No parent should have to go through this. What happened does not in any way reflect negatively upon Superintendent Brown or his ability to lead the Chicago Police Department.

Has anyone read and critiqued David O. Brown's ABC News' article: 'Starbucks Arrest Controversy [...]' (April 22, 2018)?

I think, it's mostly social justice propaganda, with Brown not giving the full account of each arrest.

i agreed with everything up to the last sentence.sorry my opinion only.we're not talking about him just being a police officer, but to lead one of the largest departments in the nation. he has other baggage that has been outed also.

Possibly, his son was raised right, but still succumbed to evil.

95% of cpd officers that live in Beverly or mr. Greenwood have sons/daughters that routinely screw up.
I work 022, officer's living in mt. Greenwood have daughters driving around with black kids having sex in suv on weekends, drunkin cpd kids pulling door handles to steal loose change for drugs, etc
So, easy what you say about our new leader, please.

You have any specifics? You work in 022 and have knowledge of white girls having sex with black kids in SUVs? What have you done about it? Public indecency charges? Bring the kid home to her parents? What. Where the fuck do you come up with a 95% figure on cops kids screwing up? I reject that assertion. You make yourself sound like you just drive around with the windows of the squad car up if you have knowledge of this activity and do nothing about it. Hardly what I'd call working.

David Brown's ABC News' 2018 biased policing claims are refuted, on Second City Cop's "In His Own Words" post, denoted by dots or bullet points. 😮

i understand what you are trying to get at,but it's apples and oranges. his son had a previous weed arrest, no big deal, but then, while under the influence of PCP, shot and killed 2 people, one of them a lancaster,tx Police Officer before he was killed by Police. a far cry from your 022 scenarios.we all hear that Police Officers are supposed to be held to higher standards, and their bosses, i would think to higher than their subordinates.

Almost everyone has kids that screw up. What can a parent do and should they be punished for that? I say, give Mr. Brown a fair chance to prove himself.
