The Democratic governor also warned that fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for major league sports to resume in the state until the outbreak is more under control.

Moments after President Donald Trump backed down from a claim that he had the “ultimate authority” over states to reopen the country, Gov. J.B. Pritzker on Tuesday said he’s glad the commander-in-chief has recognized the U.S. Constitution, while also calling Trump “nearly irrelevant” when it comes to coronavirus testing.
“We’ve gotten very little help from the federal government. It’s fine. I’ve given up on any promises that have been made,” Pritzker said on CNN’s “Erin Burnett Out Front.” “I hope something will get delivered from the federal government, but I don’t expect it anymore.”
The Democratic governor also warned that fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for major league sports to resume in the state until the outbreak is more under control.
Pritzker’s televised comments came after a Trump news conference in which the president said he will “authorize” governors to reopen their states.
“I will be authorizing each individual governor, of each individual state, to implement a reopening and a very powerful reopening plan of their state in a time and a manner as most appropriate,” Trump said.
The president also said his administration would be providing guidelines for states, and will be speaking to all governors via a teleconference this week.
“It’s a good thing that the president finally recognized that it’s the Constitution that authorizes the governors to have the power to reopen their states,” Pritzker said on CNN just moments after Trump’s briefing ended.
Pritzker said he is evaluating the best path forward while focusing on testing, contact tracing and treatment.
“Put that together, with readily available PPE [personal protective equipment], and then you can start to talk about how you will reopen an economy,” Pritzker said.
My thoughts are that Governor Pritzker is an extremely nice guy who whats so much, to be liked by everyone. His yearning to be liked is so intense that he will say or do anything..... just to be liked. The problem is that he has surrounded himself with less than good people that give him horrible advice. Additionally, he has been slowly surrounded by people that tell him what he wants to hear in order to play him. My wish for him is that he would take control of his situation and lead Illinois to a new greatness. Murph
There is no doubt that Pritzker's main goal is to become a player on the Nat'l stage, however even Jabba the Hutt isn't stupid enough to think he is actually electable. He definitely though is angling for a nice cabinet post if the Dems are successful in November. I still say watch out for Rahm in this pres election, not saying he'll run, but he too is angling to be a major player.
ReplyDeleteMy take on Pritzker is basically a matter of low self esteem. Its the kind of thing that makes drug addicts and prostitutes untrustworthy. They think so little of themselves that there's little real regard for other people, rather, acts of selflessness are attempts to get other people to like them which clouds the reason for acts of compassion. There, that's my dime store assessment of that fucking blob that sits in the governor's mansion.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts are that Governor Pritzker is an opportunist who recognizes the chance to elevate his profile within the democratic party by trashing the president at every opportunity and press conference he holds. How any democrat could hold their nose and pretend that Joe Biden isn't some kind of pervert with onset dementia escapes me. He's been in hiding for the last month or so and the last few months of his public appearances give him away. That entire senate class of Biden, along with Teddy Kennedy and Chris Dodd have had their media relations people creating the fiction that they're honest, law abiding, above reproach politicians. And yet each day, especially in the case of Biden, new revelations pertaining to their sexual proclivities, along with the graft, and deal making that benefits friends and family show them to be the thieves they are. I'd say if you wanted four years (maybe) of comedy and malapropisms, go ahead and vote for Biden. Frankly, its doubtful he'd be able to serve 4 years which is probably what makes the number 2 spot so appealing to the likes of all these governors that are trying to show the country their testicles.

ReplyDeleteEnough said.
the governor is mush. is Pelosi running him or is it visa versa. "vaccine vaccine vaccine. and vote by mail vote by mail". meanwhile bill gates is being exposed. India was fooled and hundreds of thousands of children died from a polio vaccine. JOHN DURHAM is going to pounce soon. if I had committed crimes I would be worried. also known as SIYP.

164,000ish sealed indictments. AG Bar mentioned that derham isn't givin a report. he will be handing indictments. INDICTMENTS lucky for us there is no deep state in the land of Lincoln.
DeleteIsn't Pritzker one of the guys who tried to buy the Obama Senate seat and was never prosecuted?
ReplyDeleteNo, he commented on it, but didn't want it. 😑
DeleteHe was talking up the state treasures spot on a Blagojevich tape, talking up Jesse White as the least objectionable African American for Obama’s spot. In a world of cause and effect most of us have ignored the Chicago Tribune’s part in this world of “What if”. For instance, what if the Tribune didn’t file an FOIA request to have Jack Ryan’s divorce files unsealed? There would have been no Senator Obama etc.
DeleteHere’s a more unlikely what if. What if Pritzker learned early in life proper portioning at the dinner table? Oh...never mind
The same could have been said of Democratic Challenger Blair Hull's divorce records then too. He was the original front runner. 😬
DeleteJust got an email from Lodge 7. This M F er has released more than 750 hardened criminals from state penitentiaries across Illinois. Some who haven’t served 2 months time as yet. He’s a useless POS.
ReplyDeletePritzker is like the captain of the titanic, keep the peasants calm while the state slowly slowly drowns under an ocean of debt and financial mismanagement courtesy of the democrats who have controlled the legislature for years. In the meantime the smart folks jump ship to a neighboring state taking their wealth and businesses with them. Yes he and Bernie Sanders would have made great running mates with everything being free yet not a clue how to pay for it.
ReplyDeleteI hope Pritzker keeps spouting off his big yap blaming Washington for the Illinois problems and President Trump gets pissed and unleashes the DOJ on tubby and company, we are overdue for a governor to serve his second term in jail.
ReplyDeleteIf either Peter Fitzgerald, Alan Dixon or Carol Moseley Braun were still US Senator in 2005, Barack Obama would have lost or not run.
ReplyDeleteIn 1992, Braun defeated Dixon for supporting Judge Clarence Thomas, accused of sexually harassing Attorney Anita Hill.
In 1998, Fitzgerald defeated Braun over her scandals in office. He retired in 2004.
Was watching the news and they showed Pritzker walking around the dolphin tank at the Shedd Aquarium and the first thought that struck me was "what's that whale doing out of the tank?"
