How could this be ?

Ellen DeGeneres is mean and nasty, say former employees & fans

Hollywood gossip is that, contrary to the sunny and super-friendly image she projects, talk-show host andcomedienne Ellen DeGeneres has a reputation of being mean and nasty.
Now, the whispers have broken through into public discourse.
Last Friday, March 20, 2020, calling DeGeneres “one of the meanest people alive,” comedian Kevin T. Porter sent out a tweet urging people to message him “the most insane stories” they’ve heard about DeGeneres “being mean”. Porter wrote:
Right now we all need a little kindness. You know, like Ellen Degeneres always talks about!

She’s also notoriously one of the meanest people alive Respond to this with the most insane stories you’ve heard about Ellen being mean & I’ll match every one w/ $2 to @LAFoodBank
Oh and the caveat is yes they have to be real! Cause we need some REAL kindness right now
As of this evening, Porter’s tweet has received over 41,400 “likes”.
Below are some of the responses to Porter’s request:
@JimmyP215: “There was that time she bullied Mariah Carey into admitting she was pregnant”
@MissAbsinthe: “After working for Ellen for over 5 years, close friend left to have baby, & found different job on a union network show (benefits etc), Ellen BEGGED her to return then fired her after 1 week, no reason given, and friend struggled for long time w new baby and no benefits etc.”
@elpez3: “Karen Kilgariff was her head writer for 5 years until the writers’ strike. When Karen wouldn’t cross the picket line she was fired and Ellen never spoke to her again.”
@JenniferWillcut: “Heard recently that Ellen, the supposed animal lover, has a bad habit of adopting really cute kittens and puppies but as they get older she’ll get tired of them and force friends, family or staff to adopt them.”
@ChrisLFarah: “I worked @RealFoodDaily, served her & Porsha at brunch. She wrote a letter to the owner & complained about my chipped nail polish (not that it was on her plate but just that it was on my hand). I had worked till closing the night before & this was next morn, almost got me fired.
@JoshBLevesque: “A friend of mine told me about a custodian she knew who was fired bc he was slightly autistic and forgot he wasn’t allowed to look at or speak to her, and he loved greeting everyone.”
@nude_eel: “My sister worked for the Ellen Show for two years. This is from her: ‘I saw Ellen in the hallways every day and would say hello and she never once said hello back. She wouldn’t smile. She wouldn’t even acknowledge me at all. For two seasons.'”
@TheOnlyDetox: “An old friend worked on her lot & smiled & said “good afternoon” to her one day & she became unhinged. ‘Who do you think you are? You don’t look at me’ yada yada. She said Portia was with her & seemed embarrassed & tried to calm her down. Has forever changed my opinion of her.”
@LeeStilesRH: “My friend is a carpenter and he and his crew worked on Ellen’s deck in her backyard at her estate. Not only was she rude and didn’t offer them water or a bathroom to use, she ended up skimping on the full payment for the job and said it wasn’t to her specifications when it was”
@Alethea_Agguiq: “She shamed my entire culture for our staple food source (seal meat). We are Inuit and live in the arctic where barely any edible plants grow.”
@seababz: “When I was working on @midnight, our stage manager told us to never work for Ellen. He told us she has signs up in her office that say ‘Do not look the host in the eye’.
@BenjaminJS: “She has a ‘sensitive nose’ so everyone must chew gum from a bowl outside her office before talking to her and if she thinks you smell that day you have to go home and shower.”
@BenjaminJS: “A new staff member was told ‘every day she picks someone different to really hate. It’s not your fault, just suck it up for the day and she’ll be mean to someone else the next day.’ They didn’t believe it but it ended up being entirely true.”
@ayyDRose: “My friend waited on her & she threw a plate of salmon in his face bc it wasn’t what she ordered”
@oceana_roll: “I had to watch hours of her interviews for a project I was working on and she continuously and rudely asks her guests deeply personal questions and won’t stop even if they ask her to.”
@AlisonVFreer: “Was wrking on a show @ WB that was next to her stage. Was our showrunner’s 50th Bday. Caterer grilling steaks outside for special fancy lunch. Ellen sent someone over to demand they stop, as she doesn’t eat meat. She’s the worst.”
@AlisonVFreer: “I have another food one: she polices her crew’s lunch orders, nobody allowed to eat fish etc. They would come hide on our stage to eat what they wanted away from her.”
@comockingjay: “I saw a PA break down in a Starbucks while explaining why the latte must be exactly x degrees hot”
@WStuartross: “She had a PA fired from a commerical for leading her to set the ‘long’ way.”
@moniquelam: “Friend owns a shoe company. Ellen’s rep asked for free shoes because ‘it will be great for your exposure when she wears it on her show!’ Turns out they wanted a pair so they could rip it off in her shoe line.”
@sext…: “One of my journalism profs said her friend’s daughter worked on the set of Ellen’s show, and that she’d get really mad at the lighting people if she felt the way she was lit didn’t sufficiently erase all her wrinkles.”
@rileyrosez: “Someone told me she wanted to switch up the pillows on the couch less than a minute till airing and the Art team was so stressed out doing so the person I knew cried while running to get pillows”
@CathyTrope: “Not sure if anybody’s mentioned this but she adopted a dog on a typical rescue contract (must be returned if not kept), then gave it away to her housekeeper, then when the rescue busted her, she badmouthed the rescue and got her fans to harass them. She sucks, I hate her.”
@ChaseMit: “Comic I know became friendly with her, said she openly expressed her deep disdain for her audience and her own show – resents it all!”
@juliagriswold: “I worked for her show for a couple years on the digital team. I’m afraid i have no stories of negative interactions with her on account of we weren’t allowed to talk to or in any way interact with her.”
@travelcookhike: “I lived in LA, got my hair done at Mèche, where there were a lot of celebrities. I always asked employees who was the meanest, who was the nicest. Nice: Julia Roberts, Cameron Diaz, Rita Wilson. Mean: Ellen (overwhelming number) and Charlize Theron (saw first hand).”
@rodneystubbs: “I heard from more than one friend who worked on her show that she fired a PA for getting her the wrong size bottle of Fiji water”
@nadjaranieri: “Worked at her favorite 3 Michelin star resturant in college (dinner bills 5k + regularly). REFUSES TO TIP. One time staff stayed 4 hours past closing for her and rob Lowe to chat in the dining room”

@ajgalexandra: “It’s common knowledge that Ellen is a horrid person to everybody but the celebrity elite.”
@mtrocc: “’92 Ellen was a comic. At The U of Charleston she performed. As the only guy on UC’s Student Activities Board, I escorting her off-campus to dinner. She chain-smoked the entire time, said like 3 words to me throughout the 2 hours, and didn’t even say thank you for driving back.”
@KristenCarney: “I know someone who worked with her for years. I said to them ‘I heard Ellen’s really mean’ alluding to wanting the goods or some stories and their only response was ‘She’s a total c*nt.'”
@DaTres: “A friend of mine worked as a grip on her show and if any of the crew made eye contact with her she would report it and they’d be reprimanded as a group.”
@lillytrotta: “Ellen fired this guy I know bc he brought a cappuccino to work with him that was made with dairy milk which violated her vegan only rule”
@MLC2475: “I have so many friends who will no longer do her hair and makeup. Portia has to come in beforehand and try to explain that it has to be done in 5 minutes because she doesn’t think it should take longer than that. She is so mean to them that no one will do her hair anymore”
@Maggie_Klaus: “Working for her, I was instructed that I can’t look her in the eye and never ever say hi to her first. She creates the most toxic environment for her staff.”

I quit watching Ellen Degenerate when she came out with that goofy show Ellen's Game of Games which seems akin to bullying.
