I was raised around 81st. and Harvard. One summer, all the whites moved from the block. Every day, the selling price of your house was decreasing.

Half of Orland and Tinley Park are populated by next generation fugitives from the neighborhoods that changed ethnicities in the 60's

Orland and Tinley are populated by the white people who have nothing against blacks as in " I wouldn't mind if one lived next store to me". That's why Tommy Moore , Marquette park, Little Flower etc went black.

Maryknook had a "covanant" they'll never have blacks in there. My mother still laughs about that comment used my Marion the developer and the people who lived there.

Marynook was one of several neighborhoods targeted for racial change by the Industrial Areas Foundation founded by Saul Alinsky. He started with Back of the Yards and continued southeast to move a few hundred thousand whities out of their hoods to the suburbs. You see the progressives made up largely of non catholics were terrified of Catholic power. Richard J thought he could stop the
movement to the southwest with the RYAN and faled. All these years later we now have hundreds of thousands of cradle Catholics who now worship their cars , cable TV's, silly sports programs, and outdoor grills in boring suburbs. This explains in large part why church attendance has tanked. Alinsky was a master at duping church leadership starting with Bishop Shiels, followed by Egan and more. Similar story in Detroit,Philly,Tea Town, Cleveland and more. NYC had some of this, but victimized by many other issues. South of Marynook was a wild and crazy neighborhood called Burnside that had pretty good intel and stopped the madness with violence. Ultimately, they lost because of violence and MURPHY MOVERS,"WE SPECIALIZE IN NIGHT MOVES". 19th warders should be proud because they have and will continue to fight the good fight.
