Pace and Nagy blame everybody except themselves!

they should just fire each other

The Chicago Bears are at least tentatively committed to Mitchell Trubisky as their quarterback moving forward, but all indications are that their signal-caller will be surrounded with new faces in
2020.

According to WGN Radio's Adam Hoge, the Bears have fired offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich, as well as three other assistants -- offensive line coach Harry Hiestand, tight ends coach Kevin Gilbride and assistant special teams coach Brock Olivo -- in the wake of a tumultuous 2019 season.

Both Trubisky and head coach Matt Nagy, a highly touted offensive mind following Chicago's 12-4 finish and playoff appearance in 2018, drew much of the criticism for the Bears' regression. But Helfrich, Hiestand and Gilbride also all had a direct hand in the team's offense, which ranked 29th in both yards and points per game a year after the club boasted a top-10 scoring unit.

A longtime college coach before joining the Bears in 2018, Helfrich helped oversee Trubisky's first Pro Bowl season during his Chicago debut but couldn't keep the former first-round draft pick from taking a big step backward in 2019. The ex-Oregon head coach didn't call plays under Nagy, who also arrived ahead of Trubisky's second NFL season, but he also garnered criticism for his part in the Bears' poor ground game, which saw rookie David Montgomery devolve into a non-factor throughout the year.

Kind of odd that the Offensive Coordinator got the ax when it is Nagy who calls every offensive play. Oh well, I don't think that Nagy or Pace will survive 2 more years,unless next year tanks too,then they'll be gone next year

I am not going to be critical of 19th ward politicians. They tend to do the best job they can with very limited resources, and don't need to be beaten up. In fact, people should be helping them as they are among the last "normal" leaders in Illinois.

I am keeping the 19th Ward Chicago name because of the rich blog history going back to 2010 and because there is a ready-made base of similar-thinking readers. For now on, the 19th Ward of Chicago will be mainly a point of reference, an observation deck if you will. A place where allot of good-natured, normal-thinking people still live and can safely view the dysfunction overtaking America. Write whatever you want about whatever or whomever you want. Just keep it true and not vulgar.

At all times, we am going to comply with Blogspot's community standards. We have seen what happens when there is not such compliance.

We will never publish threats of physical violence or baseless attacks on people or institutions.
