The electorate has been described by our leaders as a "basket of deplorables", "garbage" and "scoundrels". Besides that, they do truly care.
Trust me when I tell you that this is the prevailing attitude among a majority of our political leaders. Dat's why they call them the "Elite" don't you know.
Ok, I watched this and several things struck me. First off, I'm a big believer in separation between church and state. Secondly, his analogy of small person/big person flies in the face of reality. All the time I'm watching this, I'm thinking of the old daily bulletins the police department used to circulate at roll calls. It never ceased to amaze me when looking at the offenders pictured on the bulletin at their physical descriptions. When it came to cruelty and viciousness, the offenders description would more often than not describe someone in the height and age range of 5'7" and 135-140 lbs. Shooting, slashing.. Yeah I get it off topic, but voting for a politician, who wants to secure our country, halt those whose intentions are to either poison our youth with illegal narcotics, assault our woman and children or worse. No safeguards to successfully weed out negative elements have been successful. To deny this is to refute the issue of substance abuse and violence along our southern bordering states. Now getting back to Father Goring. He would be serving the Church better if he took an advocacy position regarding the wrong doing within the Catholic Church. As Catholics, we contribute to our churches and schools. At least monthly second collections are taken to fund needy and underprivileged. The Catholic Church is the largest owner of property in Cook County. And yet our contributions are divided up amongst plaintiffs seeking compensation for earlier acts of sexual abuse committed by ordained priests. Why are our donations, to propagate the Christian faith, used to subsidize these acts, committed by grown, educated, ordained and consecrated priests? Whats the going rate of tuition at Ignatious, Brother Rice or Marist. Apologies for being all over the board here, but its offensive that someone would refer to a concerned citizen, who happens to be Catholic, as stupid. I'd encourage Father Goring to take the blinders off and toss the New York Times to the side, and maybe take a stroll along 79th Street, maybe the old parade route from Ashland to Hasted, or 69th and Stoney or maybe Madison and Pulaski and then come back and talk about the big guy vs. the little guy. From where I sit he holds as much credibility as Cupich or Phleger. Point your concerns in a different direction while keeping your head buried deep in your ass. Sorry, end of rant.
