$9.50 for a 12 oz bottle of Modelo, a 50 plus year old manager they still call "Ricky", a roster full of unrecognizable double A players who show little personality. Baseball is marketed completely different than it was in the days of Fisk, Konerko, Crede and Buhrle. Two pitchers out in the last 2 years with Tommy John surgery. The rebuild seems slower than ever and the defense of the team, especially the infield is questionable. Every once in a while I have to remind myself that MLB is a money making business enterprise and shouldn't be confused with some entry into a contest extolling civic pride. Reinsdorf got that sweetheart deal when he, along with Jim Thompson strongarmed the legislature into approving the construction of the new Comiskey. And the naming rights, concessions, and no rent clauses he also got, while wiping out the character of 35th street by demolishing and not rebuilding McCuddys and the other bars still bothers me. As far as Wrigley, I'd venture to say that half the people going there aren't aware that baseball is played there.
