This was only a complaint.....indictments are still coming!

reformer my ass

The complaint alleges that as part of the extortion scheme, Burke solicited a campaign contribution for an unnamed politician. The Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times reported that Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle, a candidate for Chicago mayor, was the intended recipient of the contribution.
Preckwinkle said in a statement that she learned Thursday that "an individual" attempted to contribute through her campaign website but the contribution wasn't accepted. Calling for Burke to step down, Preckwinkle said his "behavior of abusing his position for personal gain does not reflect my values, and I do not condone it."
Perhaps, it is Preckwinkle who should step down as evidence is indicating that she was the recipient of Burke's fundraising efforts and knew it.
The Feds still have their net in the water. This is far from over.

Preckwinkle will be protected at all costs. She is the new face of the Democrat Party.

You look at the news and read the headlines and you just scratch your head wondering how greed and power can overtake someone's sense of reason. Its almost like those mobster movies where the gangster takes umbrage at a perceived slight and decide to "play hardball" to make an example of them. Imagine, a 50 year career, skating past previous investigations or suspicious activities, only to go down the tubes for trying to shake down a contractor over a building permit. Really? You look at it and you think he's 75 years old, law license, city pension, couple homes, wife a supreme court judge, $10 million plus war chest and then you wonder, 'how much damn money do you need?" How long you plan on living? I'd consider myself lucky to get the mortgage paid off and the kids through college. I'll be curious enough to see what else shakes out of this. His ward employee from Mt. Greenwood and anyone else that he spoke to in the last year must be concerned. And that doesn't include all those he 'mentored" who are jumping off the bus to let the alderman get run over by himself, which is an interesting display in itself. Its pretty hard to be sanctimonious about someone who got caught dirty when his actions and proceeds ended up in your pockets as well. Kind of reminds me of that great Ralph Kramden line, "Huminah, huminah, huminah"

There is a theory that Burke was merely marketing his law practice and got set up by some guys from Texas.

It will be interesting to see how much this ball of yarn unravels. I guess it is just plain greed. You would think that they should know when it is time to quit before the hammer drops.

Burke's kid had a $110K job with the County that he had trouble proving he showed up for. Ended up resigning. Her mayoral opponents should have a field day with this.
