I'm moving to Florida. I have endured my last Chicago winter and my house is sold. I won't be the only 19th warder there. I will have plenty of company.
I intend to keep this blog running until the truck has been loaded up. It is looking like a move on Labor Day weekend. After that, I will simply stop posting. Maybe I'll do a blog called 19th Ward in Florida. Who knows.

ReplyDeleteStay the hell away from Alachua County. If you have to work in Gainesville, get a house in one of the surrounding counties. Look up the 2016 Electoral Map to see what I mean. G'ville is nice to live in, good docs and such, but is full of barking moonbats (unless you like barking moonbats…)
ReplyDeleteGood luck. It's nice down here. Big difference between Blizzards and Hurricanes. Blizzards knock the power out for weeks and you freeze to death. Hurricanes knock the power out for weeks and you just melt.
Just remember the first rule of Sinkhole. Do not live anywhere where water will collect. If the terrain a house you are looking at is in a shallow or is at the bottom of hills (we have them, somewhat) then the limestone will potentially be compromised and potentially form a sinkhole. Yay Karst geology. Tampa area is full of sinkholes, by the way. North Florida, as long as you stay above your neighbors, you'll be okay.
