Leading moderate Democrats forcefully argued this week that the party can embrace a robust agenda of change while still praising capitalism and downplaying income inequality.
In other words, everything the empowered liberal base has spent a year and a half mobilizing against.
Democrats gathered here in Ohio’s capital city on Thursday and Friday in what was an opening salvo of the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, part of a conference organized by the center-left think tank Third Way.
The longtime Washington-based group was unveiling the findings of a year-long assessment launched after the 2016 election, hoping to convince potential presidential contenders that they don’t have to adopt the hard-left agenda and style of a Bernie Sanders progressive.

ReplyDeleteI guess the truth is racist. The president of the Cook County board ignores the fact that crime is rampant in Chicago neighborhoods like Englewood, Austin, Garfield Park, and other communities that are predominantly "of color". Her push to have the jails emptied of "non-violent" offenders, and her encouragement to have charges placed by the Chicago Police against offenders scrutinized by Kim Foxx's states attorneys are nothing more than an effort to blanket our streets with repeat offenders, who after receiving personal recognizance bonds fail to appear in court. Worst of all, our Sheriff, who perceives himself as the 2nd coming of Christ when it comes to running a temporary holding facility for inmates awaiting trial goes along with all this, thumping his chest with pride in his innovative approaches to rehabilitating criminals. Those he can't "cure" he deems as mentally ill. But the fact of the matter is as long as he refers to Cook County Jail and the Dept of Corrections as "HIS Jail" and his department, everything that happens there is his responsiblity. Closing cell blocks and releasing inmates on electronic monitoring has been a fiasco. Still, undaunted our Sheriff induces inmates to keep their privates in their pants with the promise of free pizza or lessons in how to make rap music recordings. In the food deserts of the South and West sides, these newly acquired skills will come in handing in making our city safe for taxpaying citizens who stayed the straight and narrow.
ReplyDeleteNow comes the genius idea to give impoverished citizens $500 a month just for being impoverished. In doing so it will cut out the middleman who used to barter Link cards at a discounted rate. Why would anyone want to work. We live in a city and county where a mayor is missing a finger, a governor lacks common sense, his opponent is missing his toilets, one of our US Senators has no legs while the other has no backbone. Collectively they pledge to resolve all the issues that plague us by raising taxes and giving away OUR dollars while sheltering theirs. As a life long resident of Chicago, the scales have tipped. Our tax base is gone. Our police services are diminishing and those willing to accept the position of police officer are second guessed by the media. Blindly we stay, hoping for a turnaround. Guess who the fools really are?
There is more truth in this post than I have seen reported by WGN, local Fox, The Trib, the Slum Times and all of our media. We have NO media in this city that is not in the pocket of the leftist Democrat Party. The only truth ever reported by these revolutionaries is done by mistake.
