They have no fear because the only jurisdiction over the railroads is the federal gov. They pay nuisance tickets to local cities and towns as a goodwill gesture and they settle for a fraction of what they are fined. Illinois,Chicago and all the rest of the towns that speak boldly about changing the railroad are merely peeing up rope. The railroads can and will continue to do as they please
Obviously our 19th Ward "representatives" do not care. This is the 21st Century and railroads may have been here a long time but times change. They make enough money that they should be forced to add more overpasses through densely populated areas. Think about a 45 minute delay and what it does to the plans of just one car waiting...you have hundreds of people regularly robbed of their time. I am starting to dislike even our local reps. The lack of police patrols in our Ward and the casual crime committed regularly including car and garage break ins, the crazy car wash causing total mayhem along 101st st and Western every weekend that is sunny. The gang bang funerals. I was talking to a business owner yesterday on Western Ave and he just casually mentioned how city ignored problems with sewer lines that were caving in and sinking driveways. Then the city notified the businesses that they would be cutting power off like 24 hour notice. They really don't seem to care. I call the Ward and no longer are there people there who CARE. They just want to get you off the phone. I am not someone who complains regularly bc I have nothing else to do. I am busy and only complain when a situation has become intolerable. Sorry Matt get back to the neighborhood. Stop acting like Dart and chasing good press. Do your job. Or at least get those below you to do their jobs.
