And I'm betting she'll win again! I'd like to say that this kind of thing only occurs in Chicago and Cook County but it doesn't. Believe me we have plenty of company in the mediocre politician department and you can pretty much look at any other big metro area across the country for your proof. Reminds of the old Toyota ad campaign " You wanted it,you got it!"
Her arrogance might cost her the election today.Depends on how many people decide they're tired of the same old machine politics candidates like her and JB and vote for her opponent or one of the other 5 running on the Democratic side for Governor. The soda pop tax will be her downfall if she indeed loses today.
I think her push to let criminals out of the jails on I-bonds represents a danger to the community. That combined with her hand picked states attorney that is reluctant to approve felony charges for arrestees is another safety issue. And to think, our neighbor and Sheriff went along with all this. Friggin dunce, toss em all out.
I cannot remember, in all the elections I have voted in, seen a more unattractive slate of candidates on both sides of the ballot. Aside from every candidate, for every office, pledging to pile on Trump (like any of them would have the means, or the authority to do that), to Pritzker talking about legalizing recreational marijuana, none have addressed the real issues, that real families deal with today. The only one who can take comfort in the outcome of these primary results is the Speaker of the House.
How would you feel if you were Rauner, spending millions on television advertising for the past 6 months and barely squeak out a victory over a relative novice to politics? When he looks at the numbers today his first order of business would be to fire the think tank that spearheaded his campaign strategy. Second order of business would be to call on the felonius George Ryan and Jim Thompson to find out a way to compromise with the legislature so you don't end up looking like an asshole after the next election.s
As far as Pritzker is concerned spending $70 million to become governor of Illinois only makes me wonder if any rooms in the Hyatt Hotel chain will be found on Trivago. That's an awful lot of money to spend to get a job running a failed state government.
He only wants the job so it makes his obituary look better. I hope Ives realizes that she can still be a viable candidate somewhere down the line. & shame on the national GOP for not helping her out
Very good points. So true. Really none of the candidates and certainly NO Democrats talked about the fact that Illinois population is actually shrinking. Pathetic and a true measure of how livable this state is or is not. While Chicago, despite it's horrible progressive politicians and their ruinous policies is still a magnet for business, the rest of the state is sliding further into debt and ruin. And the only solution the leftist Democrats can come up with is to "get billionaires to pay their fair share". Communism for kindergartners. Like that will work. Plus the Proud Union Homes keep electing these fools because their unions tell them to and warn about the big evil Republicans who want to take their pensions. Their pensions are all they care about apparently. They are starting to make me sick.
I don't know much about Ives, but I will be paying attention. I voted for her, as did my wife, thinking that she would be crushed by rauner. She lost by 3.5 percent. Maybe there is a future for Illinois.
Low turnout on the Republican side cost Jeanne Ives the election.About 635,000 voted vs roughly 800,000 in the 2014 primary.Rauner got about the same amou nt;330,000 as 2014 and got a bit over 1 million in the general vs Quinn.Don't see Rauner getting the same amount; Not with JB being the golden fix all candidate that he is.State Republican party is very divided.
anyone else see something wrong with the fact that Pritzker spent more on a primary than Trump spent on a national election? Boy I can't wait to see what Rauner-Pritzker ring up for thr general election

DeleteMy Bridgeport friend said it best yesterday. I don't care who wins or looses in the election because they all suck and nothing will change.
ReplyDeleteWhatever the case, you have decided to choose your gut, and have chosen the best person/company for the job.
