Nice Guy
Ed Moody was sworn in last October to fill the vacancy of the late Joan Murphy. A veteran of rough and tumble Chicago Ridge politics, he did so much to rid that town of a comical political faction, that he rightfully caught the attention of Speaker Madigan and the rest is history.
In office for less than a month, he made a mistake. Being new and uninformed he supported the Preckwinkle Soda-Pop Tax which went into effect last month. Being the newest member of the county board, he cast the tie-breaking vote in favor of the tax.
On Wednesday he is going to have a rare chance to fix that mistake. No longer can he claim to be uninformed for his constituents are raving mad and quite vocal about it too. The Soda Pop Tax is the latest tax increase after a June income tax hike and a July real estate tax hike. It personally affects everyone and seems to be the only tax that the voters can point their finger at the perceived culprit.
It is his decision as to what he wants to do. Everyone is going to be watching including Tricia Murphy. Will he correct his mistake and vote against waste and corruption or will he have the primary battle that nice guys don't deserve.

Chicago Ridge is still not cleaned up.
ReplyDeleteI always thought the Moody Twins were Madigan Precinct captains and worked for six figure salaries in Dragon Lady Pucinski's Clerk of the Circuit Court in the 1990's. Sort of want to be enforcers.
ReplyDeleteIf he doesn't change his vote no # of labor goons will be able to save him.
ReplyDeleteAll of these jerks deserve a primary battle. Sweep all of them out of office.
ReplyDeleteAld. O'shea is running for judge. Who will be selected to run 19th ward???
ReplyDeleteI always thought in the State of Illinois you had to be a lawyer to run for or be appointed to Judge.
DeleteCan't find what law school he went to?
McNally university he attended
DeleteA year rom now preckwinkle, daley and moody will each be out.
ReplyDeleteHe might be a nice guy but I don't think it was very nice of him to vote for a ridiculous penny per OUNCE tax on beverages. That was not nice. I don't think that it is reasonable to excuse him because he was new and made a mistake. It really doesn't take much to understand that this tax was a gut punch to businesses and to consumers. He didn't care. NOW he cares because it could cost him his seat. Even Frank Hurley is sending robocalls about repealing the tax. She was for it until she was against it. Never heard a robocall from her BEFORE the vote and not even after the vote but BEFORE the outcry! Phony
ReplyDeleteMoving to Indiana in two weeks. Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteYou cant find him for Judge thats because His name was Jerry Callow not Jerry Gallo
ReplyDeleteMoody is a Cook County Democratic Party Hack. Get your story straight. He is well known all over the State as Madigan's hatchet man. He doesn't even live in Chicago Ridge. Prior to this appointment he was a $100K a year "Jury Room Supervisor" in Bridgeview. He is not a nice guy. There are no "mistakes" in his politics. Will he put that on his headstone? "I made one mistake." Toss the Committeemen who he convinced to appoint him out then too because they made a mistake.
ReplyDeleteWho's his twin brother?
ReplyDeleteHe received a $5000.00 Campaign donation from Preckwinkle for President committee and his brother was appointed to trustee in Burbank by Preckwinkle after the vote, also received donations from many supports for the tax . His loyalty is not to the resident, he has done nothing for Chicago Ridge other then to try an drag good people down, this past election all the candidates he was backing were voted out office , Chicago Ridge will have no problem voting him out of office
