In addition to the tax, the 40 page ordinance goes to great length to mandate that manufacturers, processors, wholesalers and retailers; are not to itemize the tax in the sales transactions. Instead, they are required to include the tax in the sale price of the item. In fact, it will be illegal for a retailer to refer to the tax in "specific or nonspecific" terms.
Yes people. This is modern America. This is what we have become. If you can't take care of your health, the government will do it for you. (Think what you want but don't think it's about the money).
I don't know who our representative on the Cook County Board is, but did he or she vote for this tax?
ReplyDeleteJohn Daley, he voted for the tax.
DeleteWe won't be voting for Mr. Daley again.
DeleteAnd rightfully so. Daley has lots of patronage in Cook County. 300 jobs. Friends, relatives, neighbors, everyone
ReplyDeleteThe waste at Cook County is appalling.
ReplyDeleteWholesalers and retailers ought to, instead of itemizing the tax in sales transactions, they should put the name of their county commissioner or state rep that voted for this outrageous money grabbing assault on the consumer. Isn't the 12% sales tax on the total amount of your purchase enough?
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
DeleteOr pass out a flyer with every purchase, encouraging the customer to call Preckwinkle and Daley to express their feelings.
These cook county commissioners are liberal leftist correct? I thought liberals like transparency. Where is the transparency?
ReplyDeleteMore like communist.
DeleteBuy as much as you can outside of CROOK COUNTY!!
ReplyDeleteoh common on now folks...we get a lot of servcie from the city and the counties.
ReplyDeletewe ned to be expected to have to pay for some of this threw some taxes. this is our fair shares and it helps make for a better more healthies lifestyle fro our childrens
You poor bastards that are forced to live in the city because of residency laws deserve this, as way to many of you are politically connected to your government job.
ReplyDeleteMany of you would be ringing my door bell asking me to vote for your candidate, as someone who works in the private sector it was sickening to watch you whore yourself out like that for a job. Best two decisions I made were not to work for the city and move out of Illinois, enjoy your failing pension and the higher taxes you brought on yourselves.
You put it in a very mean spirited way.
