Why is Bridget Gainer pandering to the Negroes?

SHE WANTS TO RUN FOR MAYOR and WILL SAY OR DO ANYTHING TO GET INTO POSITION
NOT THAT QUALIFIED

Declaring that “nothing stops a bullet like a job,” Democratic Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer, of Chicago, has proposed an “emergency plan” to provide jobs to youth this summer.

It’s the second such plan to be proposed in the past week. County Commissioner Richard Boykin, D-Oak Park, proposed spending $45 million on youth jobs, using most of the proceeds from a proposed 4 cents-per-gallon increase in the county’s gas tax to fund the program.

Gainer’s proposal, by contrast, does not include a tax increase. Instead, she wants the county to defer all

“spending not required for life, safety or health” and steer that money to existing groups that get kids into summer jobs programs.

She also would reduce by one-half percent the bid calculations of potential county contractors that hire youth for more than 10 percent of their work on their projects, giving them an edge on competitors who don’t match that.

Gainer, vice president of global public affairs for Aon, also would encourage chambers of commerce and businesses to tap youth labor during the summer.

“I have some connections in the business community,” Gainer said. “These are my people. I know how to do this.”

The plans of Boykin and Gainer were introduced Wednesday at the County Board meeting. Consideration could come next month.

County Board President Toni Preckwinkle indicated she would like to see more jobs for youth but stopped short of endorsing either proposal.

“We appreciate the interest shown by the commissioners in providing jobs for at-risk youth and young adults, a topic about which I feel strongly,” Preckwinkle said in a prepared statement. “In the coming weeks, we look forward to working with the commissioners on how we might identify the needed resources to move these proposals forward.”

Instead of tax increases, why doesn't she just lecture the blacks about the need to behave better. She will be doing them more good.

  4. She is starting her campaign for mayor in 2019. She and Dart will tie themself s in knots pandering to the reverend and others in the black community. If you have ever had the misfortune to deal with her, you know that she has a greatly inflated concept of her abilities and accomplishments. She acts as if she is queen of England rather than a lowly county commissioner who was appointed instead of elected. She is also a very leftist legislator who believes that all minorities are really inferior and must be hand fed from cradle to grave.

What a repulsive description of her.

I don't know that I would call it repulsive. Perhaps the picture being drawn of her is of a repulsive person. All I know is that she got the heck out of the 19th Ward and now lives up in Old Irving Park or somewhere around there. She could care less about us. We should care even less about her. Enough left leaning Democrats from the 19th Ward.

All of these princes and princesses from the self described, self entitled elite from the once mighty 19th Ward all have that same attitude - exception maybe Matt. I had to finally turn from them after getting that attitude one too many times from them. I woke up and realized they don't care about ME at all. All they care about are teachers, city workers, and anyone who can do them favors. Don't they realize that the majority of 19th Warders are not city workers? They don't care about us at all. It is that simple. If that hurts to hear someone speak against them then too bad. These things should have been told years ago when they decided to go along and get along with an increasingly left leaning Democrat Party.

"I have some connections in the business community". Of course you do. You also have connections in the Democrat Party. You are there to do their bidding along with the bidding of the politically connected businesses. Ahhh Crony Capitalism in action.

The complaints I read here are reminiscent of what I used to hear in the 47th and 43rd wards. Ed Kelly's "fighting 47" was a democratic stronghold for years. Enter Eugene Schulter, a big influx of yuppies and regentrification and one of the more conservative wards in the city swung to the left. The 43rd, for years the only ward in the city with a Republican alderman (Dennis Block) shifted to the left with Marty Oberman and then the regentrification of Lincoln Park and the Clybourn corridor. Thankfully, most of us in the 19th Ward have dug in and hold interests here for more than 40 years. The neighborhood is kept up and thankfully most ofthe carpetbaggers in the 19th have packed up and moved north (Hynes, Gainer). Its not perfect here, but its still respectable and for the most part people look out for each other. Neighboring Merrionette Park holds 2-3 fundraisers for charitable causes almost every Saturday and Sunday. Most seem to be pretty successful in fundraising. Point being, there's a lot of heart and concern for neighbors in this ward, and that's something you can't say about most wards in the city.

Very good points. We should not overlook a lot of the great things about our Ward. I think most of us who post here love it too. I know that is why I post here - even if a lot of my posts are negative. My only beef with the people is that they have allowed the leaders to tell us what to believe rather than vice versa. And interesting comparison with Wards. I love this blog !!!

She worships him just like many in the 19th Ward. And BTW I know a lot of guys/gals who are real union members who are still seriously under employed....electricians,carpeners, roofers, laborers. Those shovel ready jobs still have not arrived nearly eight years after O took office. But of course, blame Bush.

Meanwhile the Tramp of Benghazi is prattling on about her presidency following Tuesday's east coast primaries. Please, I don't think I could handle listening to that screechy voice of hers for 4 years. Listening to her tonight, it shouldn't surprise anyone that Bill decided to diddle his cigars elsewhere.
