(CNN)Hillary Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, combined to earn more than $153 million in paid speeches from 2001 until Hillary Clinton launched her presidential campaign last spring, a CNN analysis shows.
In total, the two gave 729 speeches from February 2001 until May, receiving an average payday of $210,795 for each address. The two also reported at least $7.7 million for at least 39 speeches to big banks, including Goldman Sachs and UBS, with Hillary Clinton, the Democratic 2016 front-runner, collecting at least $1.8 million for at least eight speeches to big banks.
The analysis was made at a time when Hillary Clinton has been under scrutiny for her ties to Wall Street, which has been a major focus of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders on the campaign trail.
"What being part of the establishment is, is in the last quarter, having a super PAC that raised $15 million from Wall Street, that throughout one's life raised a whole lot of money from the drug companies and other special interests," Sanders said at Thursday's Democratic debate hosted by MSNBC.
The former secretary of state testily responded to Sanders' charges.
"Time and time again, by innuendo, by insinuation, there is this attack that he is putting forth which really comes down to, you know, anybody who ever took donations or speaking fees from any interest group has to be bought. And I just absolutely reject that, senator, and I really don't think these kinds of attacks by insinuation are worthy of you. And enough is enough," Clinton said.
I don't care what you say. I still like her.
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree. I like her no matter what. No matter whether she looked at the video of the drones in real time watching the mob gather outside our embassy in Libya. No matter whether she was involved with the decision over a 13 hour period not to do ANYTHING to protect our citizens from the terrorists. No matter whether she told everybody that an obscure youtube video was why the terrorists were gathering to storm the embassy and drag our Ambassador through the streets before violating him and murdering him. No matter whether she told Congress "what difference does it make at this point?" I agree. No matter whether there are over 100 FBI Agents uncovering more and more about her complete disregard for national security secrets. No matter whether this disregard involved possibly putting active agents for the US at risk. I could go on but let's just say I like her because she has the word "Democrat" in front of her name on the ballot.

ReplyDeleteShe is the "one percent" she rails about. Why wont she release the transcripts of her speeches to Chase Bank, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs? Could it be because she pretends to rail against the evil "corporations" publicly during debates but then sucks up to them behind our backs? I am sure those diligent members of our media are working hard to force the release of these documents as we speak! Just like they climbed all over themselves to get to Alaska to sift through the 30,000 emails of Sarah Palin hoping to find something, anything, any kind of dirt...you know...to expose her. They found nothing. They have found nothing on Hillary too, but that's because they never looked and never will. Oh but I did see a "hard hitting" interview by George Stephanopoulos with Hillary last week. You know the same George who used to work as an attack dog for her husband? The George who donated handsomely to her Clinton Foundation? The George who was giving speeches himself for the Clinton Foundation? The George who never seems he should disclose this at the outset when he "interviews" Hillary Clinton? if she were a Republican she would already have been up on charges and run out of the race like the crook she is.
ReplyDeleteDemocratic women are issuing every threat imaginable in their effort to save Hillary Clinton’s candidacy in New Hampshire.
ReplyDeleteDuring an appearance with the candidate Saturday afternoon, former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright warned women of dire consequences if they don’t support her preferred candidate.
Attempting to sway young women to support Hillary, Albright said, “We can tell our story about how we climbed the ladder and a lot of you younger women don’t think you have to — it’s been done — it’s not done and you have to help. Hillary Clinton will always be there for you.
“And just remember: there’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help each other,” she said.
Hillary burst out laughing as the audience cheered.
Albright didn’t say what she thought of women who don’t support another female candidate, Carly Fiorina. Probably because in progressive eyes, she’s not really a woman.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I can't in my wildest imagination figure out why anyone would spend a dime to listen to her screech for 5 minutes, let alone an hour, for that kind of money.
