Funeral money used to pay for a car

These local charities are not regulated and more often than we are willing to admit, are just a scam. Often the money goes to pay administrative expenses. Give your money to Catholic Charities or the Salvation Army.

A few years ago a family got burned out of their Beverly house when the gas main blew up. A call went out through the neighborhood to raise money for them because they didn't even have clothes. I dropped a sizable check off at Beverly Bank for the family. I never even got a thank you.
A few months later I heard that Peoples gas made this family whole the next morning and the collection wasn't necessary. So much for giving when they pass the hat.

I also read that the kids father is selling t-shirts on line. Scams and opportunists are all over the place. The GI Joe suicide with the possible inclusion of his wife and son as an example. Taking advantage of the compassion and generosity of good people is despicable but I temper my anger and take pride in the fact that many of my neighbors like the post above are there in time of need. We move past being pissed off that someone seizes the opportunity tied to tragedy and takes advantage of people's kind nature. I guess what I'm saying is I agree, this kids mother, like GI Joe's wife and son are assholes looking out for themselves. We can't do anything about them. T But God bless the people who act from their hearts for strangers in time of need. We're a separate breed. And assholes, they will wake up tomorrow, and still be assholes.

Off topic, so I'm sitting here wondering if I'll live long enough to pay off the debt that will be incurred when my kids go off to college, and am reading about the University of Missouri football team refusing to play because of the president of the University being labeled some kind of racist. I'm thinking that a full ride on an athletic scholarship is worth a hundred grand or more. Then I'm thinking these athletes signed papers agreeing to play. In my book that's a contract, and they're in violation of it by refusing to play. In this overly political correct world, nothing will probably happen to them, especially with it being in Missouri and Ferguson, a fat Mike Brown and all the rest. Well now the President of the University just resigned, under pressure I'm sure. If the University board had anything resembling a pair of balls or a spine, they'd yank the scholarships and file breach of contract suits against these athletes who refused to play. This whole discussion regarding racism, the trickle down effects of leftist Obama, Eric Holder and now Attorney General Lynch has gotten completely out of hand. Colin Flaherty has it right. Don't make the black kids angry.

What bout the guy a few years ago that on a committee at Barnabas running a raffle. Would you know it he pocketed a tidy sum when he claimed the winning tic. And his wife sold it to him so she got 10% too.
