Moody's downgrades Chicago credit rating to junk bond status - FOX 32 News Chicago

Moody's downgrades Chicago credit rating to junk bond status

Wait until you see what happens next.

This day has been coming for a long time. Don't say you are surprised.

If you are a City of Chicago retiree you should be concerned.

If you are a City of Chicago employee, you should be scared, real scared. You are about to sit in the barbers chair.

The pension guarantee clause in the Illinois constitution means absolutely nothing to a bankruptcy judge.

we have only ourselves to blame because we constantly return these same pols to office over and over again.

Walk up and down Western or chat up the faithful after church and inevitably you'll hear we deserve our pensions and lock up the pols that caused it. Not an enlightened response sadly as they don't want to deal in reality. We all need to sacrifice, but when you have local pols
who benefited with multiple household double dippers coupled with other schemes at the public trough you will never get responsible governance.

and the majority of the beneficiaries of these social programs that put the city's finances are the same loud mouthed whiners that have been pandered to and have little or no skin in the game.

This situation is going to take the rest of the year to play out. I will admit that it doesn't look good. On the plus side, if all these governments do file, the crisis will be over.

I am a resident of Tinley Park. I moved here 6 years ago after a lifetime in the city being a Daley supporter, etc. etc. Why? Because one morning I came out to my car only to find a ticket on the windshield for having my car pointing the wrong direction. I starting thinking how pimpy? Why are they resorting to such low level techniques to raise revenue? We saw that the end was near and sold the house. By the way, neither I or anyone in my family was on the payroll.

Sorry to say the end is near. Good neighborhoods are going to look like where I grew up, 71st and Damen all because of greed and corruption. Keep on voting for those bastards.

Park your car the wrong way in Tinley and tell me what ticket/s you get. Per square foot your taxes are a lot higher.

    Murph,
you speak that we are to blame for constantly re-electing the same politicians into office. I think you gave your full support to Matt Oshea and praised him for a wonderful job. Matt has been part of this financial problem for the last 20 years while working under Rugai. Matt is nothing more than a yes man for the mayor and will continue to give the mayor everything he wants for another 4 years.
