if you ever had the unfortunate experience to meet one of these east coast liberal all about me egotists its a trip worth taking, whole conversation is name dropping, where i was,who i met,who i had dinner with, who i went to so, america and europe with, this guy was the worst, other ppl in the profession knew him as a phonie and narrcisitic physco and thats saying a lot in that profession, but then again i may have"misremembered".
We have to learn to make the distinction between "news" and the whole "media personality thing" News is a commercial, for profit business. It is not public service. The people on screen presenting the news are not journalists, they are media personalities and in this case story tellers who make little distinction between fiction and non fiction. Its not about the news items, its about who's "reading" the news. Its the same in every form of media, its not about news, its about personalities. Example, Tribune columnist John Kass, or Sun Times columnist Richard Roeper. Its not about what they do, its about who they are. It says about as much about us as it does about them. Little wonder newspapers are going out of business. And finally, all of us are well advised to take with a grain of salt, every story we read in the paper or see on television.
