Last night's storms left 4,571 homes in the 19th Ward
without power. Commonwealth Edison has several crews working and have already
restored more than 1,900 customers in our community; they ask for our patience
as they work around the clock to address the remaining outages.
In addition to the power outages, we have more than 128
reported tree emergencies throughout Beverly, Morgan Park and Mount Greenwood.
The Bureau of Forestry has multiple crews working to address these issues.
Residents are asked to call 311 to report any tree issues and place tree debris
in the parkway or alley.
If you have any questions, please call the
19th Ward at (773) 238-8766 or email me at mattoshea@the19thward.com <mailto:mattoshea@the19thward.com>
.
Sincerely,
Matthew J. O'Shea
Alderman, 19th Ward
He was out there all night long. Working his ass off.
ReplyDeleteI am often critical of our ruling elite. However Matt is doing more for the Ward and working harder by far, than his predecessor. I am pretty sure he works harder than any other Alderman in the city. He just needs to grow a bit more of a back bone in some cases...signed a Democrat turned Republican who knows a decent guy when he sees one.

DeletePart of the reason why we have so many trees down is that the city hasnt trimmed them in years.
ReplyDeletetrees can't be trimmed because the money is going to pay fat salaries to hacks that don't work that hard.
ReplyDeletethis guys power was out the day he was put in there by Hynes and company, now we have a state rep whose only qualificactions were ansering the phone for Ginger and getting coffee/ the 19th ward died along with John and Joe Duffy if they could help you they would and if they couldnt they would tell you why, they didnt kiss ass either with wired friends and neighborhood pals.
ReplyDeleteMatt is coming into his own and beginning to create his own style. When he first came into office he had to pay a certain amount of homage to
Delete......"this guys power was out the day he was put in there by Hynes"....should read:
DeleteThis guys power was out the day he was put in there by Joyce.
As you remember Hynes appointed O'Shea on Joyce's orders just before Hynes and his people were shown the door since they didn't deliver for Ginger against Sommerville..
That's all for today's installment. Hope it removes some of the fairy tale of the 19th ward voters impression of how the ward office works.
Until next time a 19th ward misconception of it workings occurs, its Ed on Monday Nights
All true
DeleteNobody or no one has done more for this neighborhood than J. Joyce.
DeleteWho is running now it now with Mr. Joyce Sr. now residing in Florida most of the year?
ReplyDeletePICKLE
DeleteMatt O'Shea needs to take a public stand:
ReplyDelete1. For enforcement of our immigration laws,
2. Repealing Chicago's "Sanctuary City" status, and
2. Calling on Mr. Obama to resign.
You have to remember the political power is a machine. For now no one runs the machine because its in mothballs. The machine is in storage. Matt O’ Shea is in charge with making sure it doesn't rust and he has to squirt oil in its cylinders and on the gears so it will still crank when the day comes. For now there is nothing to run. Matt O'Shea will keep the seat warm so that no one who is unaligned with the Joyce family can win for alderman.
ReplyDeleteThey may have to upgrade the interface to hard wire it back into the 5th floor but you know it will be ready to go when that day occurs. What day is it? When Dart becomes mayor or Daley’s daughter or Richard J’s grandson at the Water Reclamation.
So why is Joyce Sr. living in Florida a problem to having the final decision on things?
Glad he has the final say.
DeleteIf Joyces like O'Shea so much why did they run Phil Spurlock against him.
DeleteDart will never be mayor. Dat boy just aint right.
ReplyDeletebut in typical irish narrow back long tradition they stab each other in the back over power and ego,saw it before and will see it again,,,,
ReplyDeleteLets just leave it like this. Matt is a very good alderman and is serving the neighborhood well. The Joyce family has a long history of service to the neighborhood from which we have all benefited.
