Good film indeed. Perhaps the far south side story
from 55th stree to the city limits and the lake to Paulaski will be documented. Something like a half million white people fled some 40 odd parishes and other denominations from the late 50's to the late 70's. They left their hearts and souls in these magical places and some would argue it was masterminded by
realtors, academics, religious leaders and manipulative non profit foundations. Now they are all in homogenized, boring suburbs and can't wait for the
south side Irish parade every year and celebrate what once was.

Sadly, a few readers miss the point. The social engineers mentioned earlier such as foundations, religious leaders academics etc. were
determined to provide quality housing for the tens of thousands of sharecroppers up from the delta. They were relegated or stuck in the belt and needed to move and with restrictive covenants removed it was time. The argument suggests that these delta blacks could have easily been encouraged to move to places like LaGrange or, Park Ridge, or to any burb accesible by public transport. However, the social engineers used sinister ,clever tactics to target ethnic neighborhoods largely to destroy political power.
I would argue if left alone all these southside neighborhoods would have quietly integrated
much like what eventually happened in Beverly.
