UPDATE Friday morning, shortly before 10:00 am EST deadline: The Obama administration asked the Supreme Court not to exempt Catholic groups from an ObamaCare requirement to offer contraceptive coverage, after the high court gave them a temporary reprieve earlier this week.

Little Sisters of the Poor take care of 13,000 poor elderly nationwide, but the Obamacare mandate requires the nuns to purchase insurance with contraceptives - something their religion teaches against. U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor granted the sisters a temporary halt on this Obamacare mandate just hours before the New Year’s Eve countdown. The Obama Administration has until 10 a.m. today to respond to the stay.
St. Mary’s Home at 2325 N Lakewood in Chicago is part of the Little Sisters of the Poor's network. "We continue to be one of the most highly rated nursing homes in Chicago, but we are called to a higher standard," their website says. "We are committed to creating a loving home where people of all religions are welcomed as family and are treated with dignity and respect."
The Becket Foundation is representing them in this case that is challenging Obamacare.
