Potholes
"The asphalt covering has failed". Those were the words of my engineer neighbor when we were discussing the conditions of the streets. He also said they should have lasted 12 to 15 years but that they are failing because of shortcuts in the asphalt mixture. This is a problem that goes way beyond Western Ave. It is citywide? What should be done about this? Should the city be holding the suppliers and contractors responsible? Should the city be filing claims with the bonding companies?
Rahm will take care of that problem right after the new bike lanes and the fifty million for Maggie Daley Park.
ReplyDeletethe Mob always uses inferior materials.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of an engineer is this neighbor?, Does he drive the little train at the zoo? "The asphalt covering failed" The base of the street is gravel!!! Potholes start from the bottom up!! It's not the contractors fault, the city and state tell these contractors to only do what they request, These streets are shit because the politicians can re issue these sweetheart contracts to their buddies every 4 or 5 years! Ask Al Sanchez or Bill Cellini about how the games played!!!
ReplyDeleteYou sound like a contractor.
Deletethe former narrow back in charge was hood winked perhaps but then again maybe he didnt give a shit,,,
ReplyDeleteNo Murph I'm not a contractor. I worked for IDOT for 25 years fixing the shitty roads the politicians and contractors made billions of dollars on by screwing the taxpayers with shitty construction.
ReplyDeleteThat kinda stuff may have been going on when Daley was mayor, but not anymore I'm sure.
