WHO'S MARK KIRK? ONE OF THE LEAST KNOWN SENATORS IN THE COUNTRY

Mark kirkWASHINGTON - "And who's Mark Kirk?" That's the response from most people when asked their impression of Illinois' junior U.S. Senator Mark Kirk, according to a new Public Policy Polling survey taken the last week of November. If he were to be challenged by Attorney General Lisa Madigan in 2016, the race would be very close. PPP reports:
Almost halfway through his first term, Mark Kirk is one of the most anonymous Senators in the country. 32% approve of him, 32% disapprove, and the largest percentage at 37% doesn't have an opinion about him one way or the other.
And while Republicans aren't that enamored with Kirk, Democrats think he's okay -

What's interesting about Kirk's numbers though is that while Republicans are not that enthused about him (only a 35/27 approval), Democrats don't really have much of a problem with him compared to most Republican Senators (a 23/35 approval).
That crossover support means he might not be an easy out in 2016- he ties Lisa Madigan at 41 in a hypothetical head to head, taking 15% of the Democratic vote while losing only 11% of Republicans.

Nowhere is it mentioned that Kird suffered a pretty severe stroke. He was out of commission in rehab for a long time. So if a lower percentage of people do not know of him nationally, which is what the poll implies but never specifies (21st Cent journalism at it's finest) those numbers are somewhat misleading. More people in Illinois are likely to know OF him and OF his battle to return to the Senate after his stroke. Mark Kirk is certainly the type of Republican that Democrats like but that does not make him a bad guy. He is probably more representative of the average Illinoisian than Durbin. Durbin needs to go !

Durbin and Kirk both have to go, but Madigan is definitely not the answer.

Sort of a silly Senator. The guy needs serious rehab and needs rehab big time. I have called the office for ideas related to issues and the staff kids offer zip.
    Mark take a hike.

Maybe you missed the news accounts, but Senator Kirk has been in serious rehab from a very serious stroke. Not sure what you mean when you say "I have called the office for ideas related to issues". Maybe they didn't understand what you were talking about either. Rather a silly post.

Just saw a link to Billy Cunningham's facebook and he is getting a lot of flack for voting for this pension bill. Interestingly he notes that he favors a graduated income tax for Illinoisans because it will "benefit the middle class". I almost spit out my soda laughing at that. How many times have we heard that the new Liberal Democrat plans will benefit us ? Far too many times with very very few actually benefiting the middle class. What a joke this guy is. The new crusade by the left is to pass this bill. They say it will be good for business. However businesses exiting the state almost universally point to the high taxes and screwed up finances that our liberal Democrats who control everything in Illinois - have brought us. So Cunningham wants to help the state get its fiscal house in order by voting for this pension bill. In the same breath he swears support for another job killing Socialist progressive tax. They just don't get it. It will drive OUT businesses and higher earning tax payers and you will end up with LESS money. God help us.

Almost every state on the list of best states to live in are Republican. Almost every state that is in fiscal intensive care is run by Democrats. The state statistics pretty much prove that liberalism sucks and is a failure wherever it is applied and it's sucking factor is directly and proportionate to the level of liberal Democrat control and policies. In the same way that the Soviet Union slowly decayed and imploded so to are the states that apply the same idiotic government controlled solutions to our problem. Point in fact....50,000 people have signed up for Internet Gambling in New Jersey while only 741 have signed up for Obamacare! They cannot even get a web site to work...but just keep giving them your money so they can "fix" the state problem..
