The electorate has been described by our leaders as a "basket of deplorables", "garbage" and "scoundrels". Besides that, they do truly care. Trust me when I tell you that this is the prevailing attitude among a majority of our political leaders. Dat's why they call them the "Elite" don't you know.

It's time to honor Michael F. Sheahan
After 35 years of public service as a PO, Alderman and Sheriff, it's time we honor this man who at all times defined what it is to be an Irish Catholic. He is an outstanding citizen who always put our neighborhood in the most positive light. If we had more like him, somehow things would be better.
I suggest that Beverly Park be renamed Sheahan Park.

More like Ridge Park. He coached there since 1980. He still coaches there!
ReplyDeleteits about time. great guy
ReplyDeleteThe best....should have been Mayor or Cook County Board President....he was deserving but instead chose to retire to be with his family.
ReplyDeleteI completely disagree!
ReplyDeleteKennedy Park was named for the very late Dennis J. Kennedy, Calumet District Park Commissioner who died in 1932.
Mike Sheahan began his public career serving as a coach and park supervisor in Kennedy Park.
Kennedy Park should be Sheahan Park, as it has been since the early 1960's.
Great idea! I have known Mike since Mendel and he has always been a gentleman. Do it quickly before the administration names it after Karl Marx.
ReplyDeleteGood Idea,GOOD MAN
ReplyDeleteROWAN park i beleive has a better sound to it, no fire arms allowed please.....
ReplyDeleteHow about we keep a Park named after our neighborhood the same. Put a plaque up in every park in his honor but let Beverly have a Beverly Park. I agree he was a good guy if you worked for the city or police dept. He served us honorably but let's not apply for Sainthood. Besides he is still alive.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you have to be dead to be honored? That's nuts. I think Beverly park should be renamed Sheahan Park. The sooner the better.
DeleteI think it should be Mt. Greenwood Park that gets renamed!
ReplyDeleteMike did so much for the Mt Greenwood neighborhood, over the past 25 years he helped to bring it form a shambled blight into a nice little quant community that it is today.
Katelyn Daugherty
Get the ball rolling. Does anyone know how to do it? I do think you have to be dead before they can name a park after you though.
ReplyDeleteIt should be Daley Park! Like just about everythuing else in this city, named after that family of thieves..
ReplyDeletePlease, Mike a nice guy but let's be honest. Look let's forget about anybody political and honor a non political someone of selfless integrity and I welcome candidates. Maybe someone from the private sector who never donated to a politician.
ReplyDeleteHonor him???
ReplyDeleteFor what?
The downward spiral of the Sheriff's Department while Sheriff?!?
